poll - best thing, worst thing

What has been the best thing about having RNY for you?  What has been the worst thing?  I know there probably many good things and possibly many bad things, too, but try to narrow it down to just one of each.

For me, the best thing is just feeling comfortable in my body.  I don't just mean that I can breathe easier and my knees don't hurt, though those things are nice.  I just feel like I can move more easily and I don't feel trapped in my body now.  I don't think I'm explaining it very well, but that's the best thing for me, for sure.

The worst thing was all the nausea I had in the first couple months.  It reminded me of morning sickness, except with morning sickness you at least know it'll be over at some point because you won't be pregnant forever.  I had no clue how long I would be nauseous or if it would ever go away.

The best thing is not being hungry all the time.  The worst?  Hard to say at this point.  The constipation was bad but I seem to have a handle on that.

I'm jealous.  I wish I had a handle on the constipation.  Got any tips to share on that topic?

I started using VItalady's suggestions and what I have found works for me consistently is Miralax every day.  I was using Miralax before but not everyday and I found that when I didn't use it I became constipated again.  Using it every day makes my stool very soft at times and during those times I would stop using it and become very constipated right away.  I decided I would rather have soft stools then no stool.  I also take 2 magnesium oxide 500 mg a day.  I get in at least 25 grams of fiber a day.  And I always drink at least 100 oz of fluids.  I haven't missed a day since I've been doing those things consistently.
My doctor prescribes the Miralax so the cost is very minimal.

Thank you.  I knew I'd read posts from Michelle saying magnesium might help but I couldn't remember if it was mag oxide or mag citrate.  I actually emailed her a little while ago to ask but now I can go ahead and order some.  I already drink a lot and I think I get pretty much fiber.  I just started using Miralax a few days ago and so far it does not seem to be helping me.  I have been so miserable lately.

Hang in there with the Miralax.  It takes a bit to really work well but keep it up.  The magnesium oxide will really help, too.

I was using Miralax every day for the constipation, but I've been taking 250mg of Magnesium oxide every day and don't need the Miralax anymore except for maybe once every 6 or more weeks when I'm feeling blocked up.  But then I'm way too loose, so I usually don't take it.  Magnesium citrate helps you absorb the calcium.  I take 4 200mg each day with my 4 500mg calcium, and I think, going by how strong my nails are, my calcium is finally really good.  Also, I have almonds and/or avocado every day which I think helps.

Kelly,

I take the calcium w/D, mag oxide and mag citrate from vitalady and it's worked wonders for me.

It IS hard to narrow down the best....I'll have to say getting off my Blood Pressure Meds...the worst?  I haven't had any problems so I guess I'll have to say the constant wondering if I'm going to fail and the pressure that comes with it.
