First for the SV... I weighed 209 this morning for a total of 65 lbs G O N E!  Yay...I know am lower than when I had the band and I weigh less than I did when I found out I was pregnant 18 years ago!  I weighed 211 then! 

Now for the mental break...  My mother is completely psycho.  SHE has turned a cookout for my son that is leaving for basic into a cookout all about HER!  SHE volunteered to have it at HER house.  SHE volunteered to do the cooking.  Now SHE is mad because I invited my husband's family.  WTH!  They are my son's family too.  SHE IS NUTS!  She invited people that aren't even related to us.  People that we don't even like.  People that my son doesn't even know but goes balistic over some of his family coming. 

Uhhhhhhhhhh...going to be a long weekend and my head is pounding.  I can't even enjoy my weight loss today because I'm so stressed over HER!!

She should have made you aware of "any ground rules" about her bbq.  Don't stress over her selfish attitude.  She chose who she wanted to invite, and is probably upset because she didn't have full control over who comes to "her event".  Do your mom and DH get along?  Good luck on ther rest of your journey. My mom dislikes my sister-in-law who happens to be my best friend.  She pretty much doesn't like her because I spend time with her and not my mom occassionally.  Selfish, selfish, selfish...all about her!!  No, her and the DH don't get along really either.  I'm just stuck in the middle.

Being the "Oreo" in this situation doesn't sound like fun. Just as I guessed, you mom is selfish.  To avoid these highly probable issues, I'd have done the cookout at your home.  Good luck on the get together. DAVE

So if you paid for the food,  don't worry about it, invite who you want, and if you didn't then have your own BBQ.. 

THIS IS ABOUT YOUR SON...my son went to basic last Aug. You will not see him or talk to him until Nov. something! I was about 6 weeks before I got a letter and that was from his SGT saying he arrived fine and do's and dont's.
After that we did get a letter from my son like 1x a week but no talking and you can tell when they are depressed or home sick.........We saw him the rest of Nov. and he left, we saw him the week after Christmas for 10 days and in May for 9 days, and he was in CA so he couldn't just pop home to visit......so you need to enjoy the day, no matter what your mom does. And if she isn't happy, she will have to get happy eventually.

Sorry, don't like to butt in, but you mentioned it and this is my personal experience with basic training.

 So sorry she is being like this esp on your sons last weekend home. Please ignore her and give all your attention to your baby boy. Let her know before hand this is about him not her and that you wont forgive her if she ruins his day.

Thank you.  I'm really starting to feel a sense of accomplishment with my weight and that feels pretty great.

I know...she just has no idea how stressed I am about him leaving to begin with and then to add all of this on top of it.  I won't let her ruin it.  He has no clue about what has gone on and she better not tell him either!!!

Sorry about your psycho mom.  Make  sure you take some food for yourself to the cookout, because it sounds like she is unlikely to be concerned about making sure there is something you can eat.
