Question about blood sugar

Has anyone experienced a rise in the blood sugar while they were on the liquid diet pre-surgery?  Just wondering, since mine has been up since I started the darn thing, and yet not taking in carbs and no sugar.

I have had to actually add another shake or snack from the list as mine were dropping to low.

I have type II Diabetes,  If you are Diabetic, it could be something other than the diet running your sugars up,  like infection somewhere in the body.

Also, which shakes are you using? Some have a lot of carbs, also check for sugar alcohol in any low or no sugar products,  its not listed as a sugar but it will spike your blood sugar quicker than anything.

Are you sure your protein drinks have no sugar, carbs?
A lot of protein drinks have sugar, at least some do.  Milk has a lot of sugar.
Also - our body can make sugar out of extra lean proteins we eat, and converts stored reserves into sugars.
Our body stores a lot of sugar in muscles, liver, etc... in different forms. We need that when fasting.

I'm using Isopure and pure protein, both of which are low fat/carb.  I'm not sick at this time so maybe it is just the stress of being in the last weeks before surgery.  I know they can rise if you are stressed out also.

Thanks for the input everyone.
