Dear Aeropostale JERK:
Today is my son's 15th birthday and yesterday I went to Aeropostale to get him some tshirts for it. I was a bit nervous going into the store by myself. I have five kids and I almost always have someone with me..... anyway, a bit nervous as it was. I walk in and head to the boys side..... I'm looking through stuff and I notice this male clerk coming my way. He seriously stopped about 10 feet away and looks me UP AND DOWN and says "Ummm are you finding the right sizes?"
I was really embarrassed. I wanted to ***** slap him and say "Honey in about 6 months (ok, maybe a year) I will be!" But I tried not to take it personal...... I'm a bit moody these days. I simply said "Oh yes, thank you!"
I watched him greet the guy who had just walked in and tell him all about the sales and blah blah blah. Nice, he didn't do that for me. Hmmmmm
UGH!

I asked one of the women that worked their about the jacket, and she said Im sorry mam We dont carry plus size clothing in here we only go up to a 14, I was really aggervated and I said yano thats fine I wanted to buy it for my sister she;s a size 8 but ill find her something somewhere else!!!!!!!!!!

Some clerk does not know customer service well. I am sorry, no one would give it a second thought if we went into the baby section to buy anthing....duh it's not for us
About a month out I went into a Maurice's store (smaller clothing sizes), I went into look and fantasize on the clothes I will be able to wear. I did get some strange looks from the young ladies there, they did not make me feel comfortable. I went in the store the other day because I can now wear the shirts at least, not sure of the pants but they look a little young for the 53 year old grandmother of two. The clerks were a little more receptive but as I was there some size 3-5 type ladies came in and they got the vip treatment....oh let me show you this new line, oh, here these jeans will look good on you.
I still have a hard time convincing myself I don't have to stop at the plus size section in the department stores. Ross has been my best friend for now.
Keep your head up....you are worth it.

What a idiot,
I had a simailar situation happen to me a few years ago. One of my best friends was getting married. So we kept joking we were going to get her crotch less undies. When we had her party I went in to a lingerie store. The look on the clerks faces were priceless when i walked in.. They asked if I needed help finding my size. I said yes I need a size small. The look on there faces. They found them for me and i said these will fit me great, paid and left the store.

OMG.........I would be sooooo hot!!! That was exceptionally rude and completely unacceptable. As a manager that has worked in the retail industry if anyone on my staff ahad pproached a customer in that way they could have potentionally been put on disciplinary action. All the associate needed to say was "Are you finding everything okay?"
I would write the corporate office. That associate is running the risk of alienating many potential customers and obviously needs additional training.
Plus, this now makes me feel like never shopping there.

Oh, I'm sorry. He definitely needs some training in customer service. Or just basic manners.

Maybe it's me, but I always take it personally! I haven't been back to Victoria's Secret since the lady LOUDLY said--"we don't have anything here for you Miss" So once I finished up the perfume/cosmetics I already had I haven't set foot back in there. Bath and Body Works now has my business. One of my goals is to fit in a VS bra but now that you've made me remember that day, I don't think I will! LOL
I think I'd have told the guy "well my son wanted some of your clothes for his bday but now I'll take my business elsewhere, thank you!" and left

That's awful. I'm so sorry for you.. it's embarrassing to have some one point out anything about size or weight for me. I'm super sensitive about it now, even at 185 lbs thinner. A few weeks ago I was shopping with a friend of mine and we went into White House Black Market because she saw a shirt she liked. My friend is heavier, probably a size 20 or so. When we walked in the sales woman greeted me and asked me what I was looking for and if there was an occassion I was shopping for. I laughed and said it was for my friend and she informed us both that she didn't think we'd be able to find the size she would need but feel free to look that I might find something. I was so embarrassed for her and informed the clerk even if I did find something I wouldn't be buying it as I found her reaction very rude and insensitive. We left and I won't patronize that store ever again. It's amazing to be on the other side of things, but it still stings like it was said to me. I don't think I'll ever forget how it felt to be my friend not just hear it.
