SNACKS!
JUST WONDERING HOW EVERYONE ELSE'S ROUTINE IS. I USUALLY HAVE 3 MEALS AND 2-3 SNACKS A DAY, MOSTLY BECAUSE IF I DON'T MY SUGAR DROPS AND I'M IN TROUBLE. I TIME THEM BETWEEN 2 AND 3 HOURS APART. MY QUESTION IS DO ANY OF YOU STILL HAVE A SNACK EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT HUNGRY? I FEEL LIKE I'M EATING TOO MUCH SOMETIMES BUT I'M AFRAID NOT TO DUE TO MY REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA(SP) EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE SMALL MEALS AND SNACKS, I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOUD EAT IF I'M NOT HUNGRY.
I eat six times a day, most days. I usually go about three hours between meals or snacks. Sometimes I go longer if I don't feel hungry, although I usually am hungry by then. If it's been four or five hours since I ate, I will eat something anyway or have a protein drink even if I don't feel hungry to keep my blood sugar stable.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
So far I have been lucky and haven't been "hungry". I generally do a protein shake for breakfast, have a good lunch, and then dinner. Occassionally around 7 pm the munchies will set in and if I can't stand it, I will eat a protein bar. I try not to do snacks because I'm afraid that will bring back a whole way of life I left.
