Has anyone ever tried the Herbalife brand products? Are they safe to use post op for protein shakesand such? I have a friend who is a consultant, and selling these products... was wondering if they are okay before reaching out to her - she does not know I am having WLS done, and I wondered about their products.

Read about thier shake nutrients on thier web site, I would bet they don't meet your bariatric requirements unless they have made some recent changes. Herbalife has great products, but they may not be suitable or sufficient to meet your bariatric needs.

Take care,

Based on the info on their website, their products are not a particularly good choice for RNYers.

For the French Vanilla flavor of the Formula 1 shake mix (catalog.herbalife.com/US/en/pdf/catalog/100819_SKU3106_usen_ label.pdf):  First of all, it is soy protein (which is not bad, but is not as good as whey-based protein). There are only 9 grams of protein in a serving (which is 90 calories and 9g of sugar).  Most protein powders that RNY folks use have more than twice that amount of protein and only a couple of grams of sugar.

For the first vanilla Protein drink mix (catalog.herbalife.com/US/en//pdf/catalog/100907_SKU1122_us_l abel.pdf):  This is also soy protein, but much more appropriate for us: there are 15g of protein, 110 calories, 1g of sugar and 1 g of fat in a serving.  Still less protein (and soy rather than whey)

For the second valilla protein drink mix (catalog.herbalife.com/US/en//pdf/catalog/LPR3175US-02-03.pdf): same stats as above but 3g of fat instead of 1.
