Weight loss has slowed SO much.

I know....so many people have to have those "I've stalled" threads. This is a little it different than that. In the last month and a half I've upped my calories and now get 800 calories a day. I'm getting in my protein and vitamins and water. I limit my carbs. I have some ocasionally but usually good carbs. Maybe once a week or once every two weeks I have some kind of full sugar treat but usually only a couple of bites and thats enough. I really don't think I'm overeating but I don't measure my food. I eat about 4 oz at a time. So I guess I want to know if it is normal to lose SO slowly. Maybe a lb every week and a half to two weeks. I used to lose a lb a day. I know that wouldn't keep up but I thought maybe a lb a least a week would be feasible. Am I just at a stall or is going this slow normal?

You are doing really good.  I only lost a pound a day the first week or so out.  I am now and have been ever since at a snails pace.  I'm 4 months out drink 64 oz. plus, eat 70-100 gr. of protein a day, and take all my vitamins and yesterday I was down today I'm up 2#.  I have only lost 55# so far and have at least another 80 - 90 to go.

Standard weight loss after the initial honeymoon period is 1-2 lbs a week.

If you want to bump it up, you add exercise to the mix.

You are doing great though. Remember too if you've lost a lot of weight initially, your body is going to adjust and lose a little slower.

Remember too, Katie that the closer you are to goal, the slower it goes.  So I see that you're 5'8" and you have a goal of 150... depending on your bone structure that might be a pretty low weight for you (the 150, I mean).  As such, as you approach that weight you are going to slow way down, regardless of how far our you are... when I was 30-40 pounds from my original goal is when things really started to slow for me, too.

Some people set their goal weight at something very conservative... so as they approach that weight, they are still flying along because their body truly would be better at a smaller weight.  I set my original goal at 160 (I am 5'9" and very broad shouldered with a large chest)... and it seemed liked I was getting close to 160 pretty quickly so I lowered my goal to 148.  Well, wouldn't you know it, my body had different ideas!  As I got close to 160, I started bouncing around that weight... and I've never gotten below that 160 to this point.  My body seems to like to be at about 165... so now I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to fight to get lower, or to settle in and be comfortable around this weight (wearing medium shirts and most dresses (some smalls), size 8's in most things).

So, it's going to depend on how hard you want to work for it.  If you think your eating is good, then you're going to have to decide to either add significant exercise to the mix, or start tracking your food and tweaking quantities and carbs and such until you hit on the right loss formula again.

Regardless, you've still done fantastic (once your tummy started to cooperate with you more!) and as long as you keep doing what you're doing, it will still be coming off for quite a while, albeit more s...l...o....w...l...y....

Have a great Sunday!

It is only 5 months and you've lost over 100 lbs - YOU'RE DOING FANTASTIC!!  You must be feeling great healthwise.  I was also thinking you may have extra skin that is adding to the weight.  That will never go away - unless it is surgical.  You seem quite young so maybe that is not an issue.  Just a thought.

You are doing very well! I would say contiue to maximize your possible loss in the first 6 months by sticking with the program ( fluids, protein then veggies) and skip the white carbs/treats for now. Try to find an exercise you like. For me it is bike riding for some it is zumba others run, while others enjoy a brisk walk.

I will give you something to complain about and trade with you my weight loss.... 20 in the first month, 6 pounds in the second month, 4 pounds in the third month. 1 pound so far this month.

Your "i've stalled" thread is different in the fact that you havent stalled.

You know, there is such a wide range of what's normal.  I don't really consider it a stall as long as you're losing something.  It's quite possible that your weight loss will speed up again.  When I was losing, I did find that eating more protein usually meant more weight loss.

I think Tori's response was right on target, especially since you lost SO much SO quickly when you were not eating.  Focus on getting your body healthy again... that may, in fact, be what your body is doing...
