Oh Yeah banana protein shake

I got samples of Oh Yeah protein shakes the other day.  For some reason I did not get a chocolate one, I got two vanillas instead.  But I got banana, strawberry and cookies n cream, too.

I am drinking the banana one right now.  It's the first one I've tried.  It's really yummy.  It's by far my favorite ready to drink protein drink I've ever tried.  I could tolerate the Atkins ones but didn't love them.  Also, this is just eight ounces and has 130 calories and 18 grams of protein.  I can't remember the stats on the Atkins now but I'm sure they were more than eight ounces.

I'm just drinking this cold, but it would be good blended up with some ice or frozen strawberries or something too.  But it's nice to have something I can just grab out of the fridge if I don't feel like messing with the blender.

I am waiting on my samples too!
They must be low on chocolate..I saw someone else post that chocolate wasn't included in their samples.

FINALLY... you and I agree on a protein shake, Kelly!

I like several of the Oh Yeah RTD flavors. Chocolate is by far my favorite, though.  I thought the strawberry was just ok, but liked it when I mixed some leftover strawberry with a newly opened banana one!  If I chill the chocolate one just short of freezing, it really tastes like a chocolate milkshake to me.

I have been drinking these occasionally for about 2 years.  On a couple of occasions, I have opened one and it had a big lump of stuff in the bottom, so now I always shake it well before opening.

Do you prefer ready to drink or powders to mix yourself? I am new to this, surgery on the 26th, so far I'm loving the ready to drink shakes but wonder about cost in the long run....ugh suggestions?

Well, I like the taste of ones I mix myself better because I can add whatever I want to them and I blend them with ice so it's more like a milkshake.  The benefit to ready to drink ones is that I'm lazy and I like just grabbing one out of the fridge instead of having to get out the blender and add several ingredients and blend it up and then clean the blender.

As far as cost in the long run, you won't have to drink protein shakes at all in the long run if you don't want to.  You will be able to get all your protein from food if you prefer.  But when considering the cost of various supplements (multivitamins, calcium, protein, etc) I take into account the likelihood that I will actually use them like I'm supposed to.  Like, I could buy cheaper calcium if I wanted to swallow a bunch of calcium pills every day but I know myself.  I don't want to take even more pills than I already take.  Buying cheap calcium is not a bargain if I won't actually take it consistently.

Um, apparently my cat likes Oh Yeah banana protein shakes, too!  She just got up on my desk and was sniffing it and then she started licking the rim of the bottle.  She likes Ben and Jerry's chunky monkey ice cream, too, which is banana flavored.  Although she hasn't gotten any of that since before my surgery.  She approves of the protein shake, though.

The grocery had Ben & Jerry's on sale this week, and I had not had any ice cream for a couple of weeks, so I bought both a pint of Cherry Garcia AND a pint of Chunky Monkey!  So I am set for ice cream for the next month!

Those were my two favorite flavors.  They just have so much sugar, I'd only be able to eat a tiny bit of them and I know I would not be satisfied with that.  I would have a hard time not eating too much and then dumping, but even if I was able to stop before I ate too much, I know I'd feel dissatisfied and frustrated.  Many things I can eat just two bites of, but not Ben and Jerry's.

My sample pack did not have any chocolate either. I emailed the company but have not heard back from them. The only one I have tried so far was the vanilla and I did not care for it. It left a funny taste in my mouth.
