Couch 2 5k..Runners? Paul? anyone?
I LOVE the Couch25K program! I downloaded podcasts from iTunes (they were free.) I think I accidentally did the British version. It's the NHS Couch25K programs. The woman's name is Laura. I love her!
I started this past spring and ran my first 5K in early June. I'm registered for another on Sept 11.
I recommend registering for a race that is scheduled 11-12 weeks out from when you start. It will definitely keep you motivated and on-track. I also agree with the poster who mentioned getting fitted for good running shoes at a specialty store. It's worth the $$, and the shoes I ended up with weren't really too expensive.
Also, if you find a good running store, they may have running training groups. I recently joined a group training for the september race I'm doing. It's fun, great training, and good camaraderie. Good luck!

I just started the c25k program to get ready for a zombie run this fall. i dont really know how to run and havnt for 20 years so I use the program to walk and walk fast instead of walk/run. I will finish the program with the walk/walk faster first, then I am starting it over with the walk/run version. So far it is working for me and I think I might actually like to run soon.
I dont know if I will be ready for the Zombie Run in MD this fall but Im going to keep trying and be really ready next year.

A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water. Eleanor Roosevelt
I still have trouble seeing myself as a runner, even with the improvements I have made. Even as I finished a 12 mile run today, I was saying to myself "WOW, I can actually do this?"
Don't try and compare yourself to others, don't worry if you aren't fast, don't worry if you never win a race. We have a different motivation for doing this, each step we take is a victory to us in a way other people may never understand.
At times this may seem like the hardest thing you will have ever done, and you may want to give up. It is these times that you want to push harder go a bit faster or a bit longer to show yourself that you can do this.
You have many people here that believe you can now you just need to show yourself.
