My BF is checking with me weekly to find what is my current "fav foods".
I see My BF other during weekends - so he askes me " so, what are your fav foods THIS week?"

My husband does the same for me. He's surprised when something I used to love I suddenly hate. But i like variety!

That's actually great to know Hala, thank you.  I was worried that the love affair had ended permanently.  I'm going to tell my wife to check with me weekly as well because I just had to throw out three tubs of cottage cheese that expired because I hadn't touched them in such a long time.

Red meat - mostly beef.  I did not care too much about it before WLS. But last year or so - can't get enough.   It is mostly due to low iron.  But still... love it. Meatloaf, steak, roast beef...

second - is bacon. Nice crispy bacon. Love that now.

Oh, I'm so there with the red meat.  I didn't care for it at all other than the occasional hamburger, but now I have it at least 5 nights a week.  Last night I had about 3 ounces of fillet mignon that was soft and delicious.  The temperature is also something that has changed.  Pre-op, if I HAD to have a steak, I would order it well done, now I like my meat medium rare.  I think my new found romance with beef is also related to low iron.

Lately I really want red meat but my surgeon says I can't have it for a year! Most people seem to do better with moist filets than chicken though so I might be tryig it soonner rather than later. Now the only problem is getting over my phobia of eating steak that has any pink color to it at all.

Pre-op, I ate chicken just about every night.  I didn't like beef or fish, so it was chicken and pork most of the time.  I LOVED chicken, but now it is just too dry no matter how I cook it.  I can tolerate canned chicken and use it in my quesadillas, but fresh chicken is off the menu.  I'm not sure I even like the taste of chicken anymore.

That's how I felt.  But once I tried it - loved it.
if the steak is well done - can't really have much. But the mid rare - 8 oz baby,,, have it coming.  But - mostly can tolerate very good steak - fillet. Tried other types - and it is "no go - coming up" often enough - that i gave up trying.  But - beef roast - and any type ground red meat.. - OMG... I am in heaven...

Isn't it weird how our taste buds change? There are quite a few things I didn't care for pre-op that I really like now:

onions
cottage cheese
blueberries
saurkraut
bell peppers

Hmm.  I guess yogurt.  I didn't hate yogurt pre op but I didn't love it, either.  From time to time I'd eat some because I knew it was supposed to be good for me and I kept hoping I'd start to like it more, but no.  Not until after surgery and now I love it.  I eat it twice a day most days.
