I'm not a teacher, I'm an entertainer. My kids don't do the spitball thing because if they do, I'll stop being entertaining if they get all gross like that. In general they prefer to enjoy class, because I'm a lot of fun when the kids are good.

It's challenging... as the other person said, % increase in pay, no step, huge increase in class sizes, and loss in pay..... and if you don't do more for each child, with less money, and less time then you're a BAD BAD teacher. Gotta love that! It's especially difficult since my hubby is a teacher at the same campus.

Good to see you girl.
I will tell you the very first time I ever got to vote it was for a school tax increase.
I have voted for every increase ever since.
Teachers need to make MORE money!

There's hope this week .... if the district CAN (they're goign to try) they'll splilt the 103 kids into three "small" classes of approximately 35 to 36 kids each.

This year and next year the voters are goign to have additional options to vote down more money.... they're called overrides because spendign was frozen at one point in time and overrides had to be voted in to keep us properly supported .... overall, $3.70/month for a $100,000 house

Ah well.

It is what it is. I keep telling hubby that he should not count on our continued employment.... pretty soon we as a country are goign to stop supporting public education.

My sister-in-law lost her job in Austin Texas this year. The governor (republican Rick Perry) wasn't too keen on saving schools in Democratic Travis county. They closed her entire school and shut down the at-risk/special ed program she worked for. Heartbreaking really.
I'm grateful the boy goes to a pretty well funded public school. We do have an auction every year to fund two teacher positions.

It's so nice to see you on the board. Sorry to hear about the work situation. I think the kids are lucky to have you. Too bad ther taxpayers don't agree.
