Someone PLEASE make this belly pain go away (mini-rant)
I was raised by a Marine and am usually a fighter, but with everything else that is going on, this is REALLY wearing me down, physically and emotionally... and I am starting to notice some tolerance to the vicodin.
Somebody just make this stop! Surgeons do exploratory surgery all the time for other people with unexplained pain... why is no one willing to help ME?!?
OK, rant over.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
When you have pain their has to be an explanation so they need to find out what is going on. I know what you mean about the Vicodin. I have been taking it at night for my knee, and I have to take more then the doctor prescribed or else it doesn't work! I wish so much I could take NSAIDS!! I never cared before.
My best wishes to you Lora!
I started to tell you a whole big story about when I went to the ER with horrible back pain and they did nothing to help me, but then I decided to spare you the details. I'll just say it totally sucked and while I do have back periodically, there have only been a few times it's been really, really bad. Your situation is much worse than mine because it's been going on so long and happens so often.
I'm just so sorry no one will help.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.

OMG I have an idea.
My abdominal pain/bowel resection surgery was after the blood flow to part of the intestines was obstructed somehow.
I had 2 episodes of pain/hospitalization prior to my ultimate X-lap surgery.
Blood flow was cut off in 2 places and caused 24" of bowel to die- When they got in to look around they saw the dead bowel but it had easily palpable pulses??
You have a history of blood clots, could you be having decreased blood flow to parts of the intestine causing pain??? (& it REALLY HURTS)
Can they inject dye in your veins to check the abdominal circulation?? I know they don't want to operate as it can cause more adhesions. Run this idea by them.
For me they think it could have been caused by adhesions but it wasn't cut off when they got in there. Though the intestines had died.. It's like a heart attack in your intestines.
Let me know what you think

It also occurred to me earlier today (as I was adding a vicodin to my daily dose of coumadin) that we opted to leave the IVC filter in place after I had my panniculectomy done. The information the vascular surgeon gave me on it indicated that there were very few complications associated with them, and I'm not even sure how it could possibly be causing the pain, but it is something no one has considered (or at leave have not discussed with me)... and it IS a deep pain.
