Oh Yeah! brand RTD protein sample kits for good price
ISS research has sample kits that include 3 full size bottles of their RTD protein (chocolate, banana, and vanilla) for $5 plus $2.50 for shipping (max 3 kits) or 5 half-size bottles (18g protein) of all 5 flavors (above flavors plus strawberry and cookies & cream) for the same price and shipping. This is a good price for these (and it is $2.50 shipping per kit even if you get the 3 max of each kit... so I got 3 of the full size kits and 2 of the half-size kits for $30... the equivalent of 14 full-size bottles for $2.15 each when the full-size bottles are $3.50-$4 each in the store). They also have protein bar sample kits.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Lora,
Have you tried their protein bars and if so, is it best to get the regular or the Grab and Go? Also, is their any stipulation on when to start using protein bars? I have been released to try things as I see fit by my doctor, but have been following the boards opinion on food, because it seems more realistic.
I didn't listen to the board concerning chicken and tried KFC grilled and was literally sick for hours.... so needless to say, I have learned that lesson.
Thanks,
Evelyn
By the way, I assumed that their protein shakes are good, because you ordered them......

I love their chocolate shakes! They actually atste like a a chocolate milkshake to me, especially if they are really cold. The vasnilla is also good and the other flavors are decent for a change of pace, although I am not a big fan of the Cookies and Cream.
I generally don't eat protein bars because they all seem to have a weird protein taste and texture, and teh ones with the fewest carbs also taste the worst (to me) but I have periodically purchased the chocolate and caramel Oh Yeah! ones... they taste a little like a Snickers. I would get the Grab and Go... they are just a half-size verision of the regular ones, but half is definitely all you would want to eat since they are very filling and are close to 200 calories each for only 15g of protein. I know that I was close to 9 months out before I had a protein bar (other than just a bite of a sample), but I honestly don't remember when my surgeon said they were ok... I would think most plans would include them once you are cleared for all but the really hard-to-digest stuff.

they are my favorite protein bar but hard to find and pricey. Our Nut said to eat 1/2 of the small one as a meal. Haven't ever tried the large ones.

I've not had them, but GNC had the Oh Yeah! bars for $1.49 each. Also, I had the new GNC Total Lean RTD shakes and they taste great and don't have that funny whey protein after taste. They have them on sale right now for $6.99 for a 4 pack or $19.99 for a 12pk. They're low carb (net 3g carbs I think and no sugar alcohols) and 25g of protein per 14oz bottle.
Okay here are the stats on the Total Lean Shakes at GNC (this is the chocolate one that I mainly drink):
14oz size
170 calories
50 calories from fat
Total Carbs is 6g
- less 3g Dietary Fiber leaves net 3g carbs
- 2g Sugar
25g Protein from Whey isolate
They have swiss chocolate, vanilla, and I think strawberry, but the chocolate is best. Very little whey after taste. They're great compared to all the other ones i have had for the shakes.

Thanks for the info Lora! I just discovered these this past week and LOVE the chocolate!
