Protein Capsules?

I read on another forum about a guy who buys empty gel capsules and puts protein powder in them to get in his protein for the day instead of protein shakes. This to me sounds like an interesting idea but how many grams of protein could you really stuff into a capsule? Are there any really high quantity protein powders out there that you could take where you wouldn't have to take 25 capsules a day? Has anyone thought of doing this? I do a pretty good job with protein now but I know it never hurts to add more. I know it kind of seems like a silly thing because you probably wouldn't get that much protein for a capsule but I thought I would ask on your thoughts.

That is an interesting idea but I think you would need to take an awful lot of those capsules to any significant amount of protein.  I mean, picture a scoop of protein powder with 20 grams of protein.  Now picture the biggest capsules you've ever taken for meds or whatever.  How many of those capsules would you need to swallow that 20 gram scoop of protein?  I feel slightly nauseous just thinking of swallowing that many pills.

Also what are those gel capsules made of? How long do they take to release in our systems? Food (or any ingested thing) only has so much time in our guts to get absorbed, so you want to make sure your effort wouldn't be for nothing.

That said...Kattie girl...there is no easy way to get your protein. You have to work at it. This is not the easy way out. I know you know that but still. Work on doing what you know you're supposed to do. One day you'll be capable of eating way more protein than you think you're supposed to.

Small steps. But as long as you are stepping, you're moving ahead.

Thanks for the input. I just thought I would ask but I will keep up my protein intake.

One day in the space agey future they will make magic protein.

...and by that time you will no longer need it because you'll be getting your protein from lean foods grown and raised in the way God intended us to get food.

Frankenfood, while necessary at first, sort of scares me. Some folks swear by it. The further out I get the closer to nature I want to eat.

At any rate, you're doing just fine. I'm going to keep saying that until you start to believe it.

When it comes to vitamin, herbal or mineral supplements, most of them come in the form of capsules. Even many medications come in capsules whi*****lude over-the-counter medicines or the prescription form. One of the many reasons that capsules are so popular to take is that they are so easy to swallow. Capsules can also go through the bloodstream at a faster rate.
