vitamin D poll

Do you take additional vitamin D beyond what's in your multi and/or calcium supplements?

If so, how much and how often?

Are you taking D3 or D2 (D3 is absorbed a lot better than D2)?

What was your vitamin D level the last time you had labs done, if you know?

I take 50,000 IU D3 three or four times a week.  I was doing it four times a week but when I had labs done a couple weeks ago, my vitamin D level was 142 so I'm cutting back just a little.

In addition to what's in my multi and calcium, I take 3000IU of D3 daily as well as the 50,000IU D2 perscribed by my NUT.

My D level was 8 when I had my labs done a week post-op and I have my three month labs being drawn next week, so I'll see if the combo made a difference.  If not, then I'll go for the 50,000IU D3 several times a week.

Why would you need to take D2 AND D3?

D2 because my NUT said it would help, and D3 is what is in my multi and calcium, but not at the levels I want them to be, so I suppliment with one extra 1000IU pill everytime I take my calcium in order to further help calcium absorbtion.

I take an additional 5000IU of D3 (dry - BA) every day. My D level taken at my one year anniversary in December was 45.

I've had issues trying to get my D levels up to the 80-90 numbers for best health.  I had an 8 post op for D, took those script D, one a wk for 6 months, which brought it up to a 14.  I had dry D3 in my calcium and in the liquid multi I began taking.  6 wks later, labs showed a 33 for D, so the dry D3 in the multi was doing far more in 6 wks than the script D2 did in 6 months. I then took 4 of the 50K IU dry D3 per week for 2 1/2 years. Labs last Oct. showed a 65. Still not at 80. I've now bumped it up to taking a 50K IU dry D3 daily.  DAVE

I take Dry Vitamin D3...I do 2 weeks of 10,000 iu's and then one week of the 50,000 ius (Only because I am NOT a big "get sunlight" person...I'm as pale as a vampire)   My labs look really good. My D is around 75-80.

Warmly,
Jackie
