What do you use as a substitute for FRYING

I am in the mood for some kind of breaded chicken but I'm not sure how well I would do with regular breadcrumbs. That being said I would love to hear what you use. Almond meal, panko? Whole wheat flour? Would love to get some ideas. If you have recipes to go with it feel free to post that too. As you know I love recipes!

I actually coat with egg then coat with crushed plain Corn Flakes cereal! Makes it crunchy and with the right spices, tastes JUST like fried chicken even though it's baked! Yum! :)

Be aware that typical fried foods have a very good chance of causing dumping. I hear of many complaints of post ops that they dump easier on fried or greasy foods as compared to sugars.  To this day, I feel like I'm gonna vomit whenever someone cooks bacon in the kitchen. I have to go outside to get away from the odor.  Baked is far better and less likely to cause dumping. DAVE

Yeah I don't do well with actual fried foods. I actually meant breaded baked foods that are as close to fried foods as you can get. To me that is just as tasty.

I do what MrsDores does..........dip in egg mixture then dip in plain corn flakes with spices.  I got the recipe from weigh****chers.  I use it on fish and chicken.

I have fallen back in love with Shake and Bake, no lie.  Just dip the chicken or pork in water, shake in the bag with the crumbs, then bake... LOVE IT.

Occasionally I'll butch up the flavor in the crumbs a bit by adding some chopped fresh rosemary or some sage and/or thyme if I'm doing chicken... it's really delicious.  The only thing I've found is that you have to make sure you don't overcook it... gets too dry.

Enjoy!

Corn Flakes or Panko are a nice idea (I'm not so worried about a little breading as long as I don't eat too much).and you can even use egg beaters for your egg wash. I would reccomend putting some extra flavoring in the egg wash (mustard, hot sauce etc..)  as well as in the crumbs. My wife tells me that Hungry girl uses Fiber One cereal as breading ( but again you need to add spices to your taste.

First I marinate in Greek yogurt and garlic..alot of garlic. Usually over night. then wipe some off. Then dip in panko crumbs then I either bake it on a rake set inside a large cookie sheet. Or I put it  in my rotisserie and make it that way.
