New find! CVS protein powder packets
So I was in CVS this morning picking up a few things and I came across these. I thought "how handy!" so I picked one up to try. It comes in a little packet (it looks bigger in the pic than it is) and costs about $2.
Here are the stats:
Serving size: 1 packet
Calories: 140
Fat: 2g
Cholesterol: 70mg
Carbs: 5g
Sugars: 2g (from lactose it looks like)
Protein: 25g
It is a whey concentrate (so isolate mixed with whey that has lactose). The stats aren't bad. I didn't pack lunch for today so I had this with 8 oz. milk and a decaf coffee packet. Not bad. Not the absolute best chocolate protein I have ever tasted (it could have been a *****ocolatey-er) but not bad either.
I wouldn't buy this as regular protein but it's good to know you can get these in a pinch if you need some good nutrition and aren't near any great choices. Y'know?
I'll do a full review on BF sometime in the near future but untiil then I had to share!
RNY Gastric Bypass 1-8-08 350/327/200 (HW/SW/CW). I spend most of my time playing with my food over at Bariatric Foodie - check me out!
I also saw vanilla. I have attitude about artificial vanilla flavoring though (sayeth the girl who once invested 1/8 of a vanilla bean pod in a protein shake. And those damn things are expensive!)

This CVS Whey Protein Powder has been my savior as far as getting in my protein. I have not tried the chocolate yet (but I did buy a $2.00 pack yesterday to test...will do tomorrow). I have been using the Vanilla, and I mix it with water instead of milk. That makes it a lot easier to get in my diet because it's not so heavy. They also had Cookies and Cream flavor. I havent tried that because they only had it in the big bag ($13) and none in the $2 pouch.
Man, I thought I would never find a protein supplement that I could handle tastewise. Actually, at Samsclub I found some Premier Nutrition brand and it tasted great (a lot like slimfast), but it felt way too heavy and made me seem even more gassy. I plan on taking it back up once I heal more.
