How can you tell if your protein shake is healthy?

Why, give it a check-up a'course! (Wonk, Wonk, WOOOOOOOOOONK)

All corny jokes aside, protein shakes can be tricky. It doesn't take much for them to trip over the line of being protein based to being carb or fat based.

When in a stall, one of the places you might look is at your beloved shake. Is it as fit as it can be? How can you tell? On Bariatric Foodie today, I go over how to do a "Protein Shake Check Up."

Check it out!

Ya know what I found the best tasting protein shake ever, its pre mixed.  Well guess what, it gives me diarrhea.  NOT FAIR!  Its even lactose free, whats the deal!  Makes me super sad

Great article, I would lovr to say I follow those rules to the letter. My changes have almost 2 grams per 10 calories for the protein aspect.

I admit that my shakes tend to be in your yellow and red light groups but you already know why and that my shakes serve additional purposes than simply protein.

No actually more protein is GREEN light. More carns and fat is red and yellow.

Yes, but we know our dear Paul is a freak of nature with all the exercise he does (and actually LIKES it!!)... he needs those extra carbs for instant energy reserves!  ;)

I just started my Pre-op for my Gastric Sleeve, October 25, 2011 and the Protien I have gives me bad stomach upset and bad cramps, Any suggestions on how long I should drink it. I drank it in like 15 minutes no water before or after for like 30 minutes. Is this normal for your bowels to react like this since this is Protein.
