Ok, so I've been around these boards long enough to know that stalls happen and that they're just part of this journey and to ACCEPT them (maybe not quite embrace them) but to let it go and move on with life.  I was expecting a stall somewhere in the 3-7 week since that's what I keep hearing is common.  I didn't think my journey would be the exact same as everyone's since HEY, we're ALL very different individuals.  If it was the same as the next person there would be a book they'd hand out "What to expect with WLS" Day One:........ Day 29:........

With that being said I was a bit surprised to see the SAME 3 numbers come up on the scale 3 days in a row since they had seemed to be flying by the first two weeks.  I kinda rolled my eyes and said "figures MY body is gonna make me WORK for every one of these fat cells I shrink!!"

So the first day it slowed down like that I was thinking "uh oh... here it comes" and then the second day it barely moved a tenth or so of a pound and I thought "oh no... already?".  And then today when I jumped not so eagerly on that scale of mine I thought "awwww man!!" then I remembered a post I had read yesterday.  I had for months tried not to read a lot of the "I'm in a stall WAH WAH WAH" posts because I swore they'd be bad juju (LOL) but yesterday I allowed myself a peak.... sensing I was near the inevitable.... and I read something that seriously made me smile and YEARN for that first stall.  I know, odd but hey, sometimes I'm odd!!  So this is what I read:
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/4433300/STALL-AT-3-WEEKS/
It says:
When your body first goes into surgery, it knows shortly afterward that it is starving. It needs food but you are taking in such little nutrition after surgery that it tries to sneak your glycogen stores. Glycogen stores are the "quick energy" stores that allow you for instance to run out quickly if a mouse is on the floor. It's your "instant energy" in your body.

So your body thinks "hmmm...it's just a little hurdle, I'll get my energy from the glygogen stores".

Well after a few weeks of this, your body realizes that this is not a short term thing anymore. It realizes that using energy from your glycogen stores isn't very efficient and very long term. So it has to THINK a bit.

(This is where the stall comes in).

Then it says "A-hah!!!!". It realizes that it has a lot of fuel on your body - your fat stores, so it's going to start burning some energy from there and shrink those fat cells.

Then the body will resume into full burning mode and guess what? The scale will start moving again.

This is a GREAT things when it happens. Although it sucks that the scale doesn't move, it means that is going to start burning the stored fat you have (especially the stuff in your butt! LOL!).

Soooooooo you know when you look at it THAT way.... bring on the damn stall!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus it got me to thinking..... perhaps when our body stops using our easy to burn up glycogen stores and converts to using the fat cells as energy... maybe THIS is the period in our recovery we get the burst of energy so many talk about ???  Hmmmmm I don't know about you but I'm excited about this stage.  Now, check back with me in 3 weeks.... if I'm STILL in a stall.... well then I might not be so happy with my slow ass brained body.... but hey, for now.... EXCITED!!

Just thought I'd share!!
