I'm going to my two week post op appt on Wednesday and I'm expecting to be cleared onto pureed/mushy stage (YAY!!).  I'm a little scared though.... don't want to dump or have issues.  I'm just curious, what was YOUR first post op food that you tried?

Refried beans with a little shredded cheese, plain Greek yogurt, and salsa.  After all those liquids, it was like heaven!

Hi Ginger,
My first food was tuna. It did not sit very well. I found out even though it was soft, it was too dry. I pureed it with some lowfat mayo and was able to keep it down. I think cottage cheese and oatmeal (weight management) has been the two best mushy foods for me. Good luck!

I tried a scrambled egg. It was yummy going down, but after a bit felt a little hard. I think I over cooked it. I am 5 wks post op and my favorite meal is greek yorgurt with PB (or PB2) and sugar free cheesecake pudding. I really need to start eating more real food. That is my goal this week.

The most amazing, tastiest, scrambled egg I've ever tasted in my life... and I don't even like eggs.

First thing was a piece of string cheese.  It was delicious!  Second meal was refried beans with shredded cheese.  Third meal was cottage cheese.  All of it was soooo good!

Y'all are making my mouth water! I am soooooooo ready for some real food.  I think I'm going to try cottage cheese first.  Then refried beans with some cheese.  I'm so looking forward to it.  I never minded shakes..... until now.  I drank them for months pre-op and did fine.  They're just so dang sweet tasting now.  I can barely choke down an 8oz shake in an hours time now.  I'm ready to move on!!

I had thought about a scrambled egg but I hear so many people have problems on them that I think I'll wait a week or two longer to try them.  I'm so scared that they won't work for me.  I LOVED scrambled eggs pre-op.

Cottage cheese, here I come!!

Yes, YUMMY scrambled eggs were the first thing that I ate - then, cottage cheese, yogurt, and oddly enough - turkey chili (no beans).  Tuna just about did me in.....have not eaten it since.  I will try again later.  But good luck to you and your check up.
