I just started getting this too!  The first episode was after an 8 hour road trip and 4 days in an amusement park, so I thought it was all that stress on my bum with less padding.  But it still hurts...I feel like I'm 100 years old and I can't sit flat I have to turn up on my hip lol.

All
I have had tailbone pain for years due to a broken tailbone.  I deal with it by using a cushion, and sitting with excellent posture.  The combination seems to take the pressure off the tailbone.  The only thing I cannot do is sit in one of those cheap cloth chairs that many people take to the beach or camping.

I find being more conscious of shifting weight or sitting on an angle helps. Like Dee, being a therapist means sitting for 45min straight at a time - so I fidget alot on purpose. Also, make sure you're not constipated as I've been so bad off that way and felt the pain in the same place - until the pain was feeling like my b-hole was falling out...... Keep it regular!

Yeah, it's normal.  You used to have lots of padding on your butt and now you don't.  I don't know what you can do about it other than to sit on a cushion.  I had to get a cushion for my bath tub because I love taking long bubble baths but the tub was so hard it always made my tail bone hurt.

I'm 7 1/2 months out and oh my gosh, this pain is horrible.  I'm glad its normal, but wowsers.

Long drives oer 4 hours, kills, watching a movie or not getting up after an hour, it's almost impossible to get up an walk.

Not that my legs are numb, but just the pain to move.

Where do you find these butt pillows at?

My heart goes out to you. I am just beginning my WLS process and everything is looking normal at this point. What do I know about tailbone pain? Well I had an accident two years ago and broke my pelvis at the top and bottom. I have a plate on the tops and screws in the bottom. I can sit comfortbly in my recliner, but like others hard seats cause a great deal of pain. It is getting better as time goes on as yours will to as your body adjusts. Hang in there-it will get easier!

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will have to get a good cushion. I wish I could know if it is temporary though.

it was really bad for me.  i travel all the time for work so i am constantly on airplanes and even a short plane ride has been really bad.  i even had x-rays because the pain was so bad.  in the past month it has gotten a little better for me.  if i am sitting for a long time 4+ hours its still hurts, but i can sit thorugh a movie if the chair is good.  according to my doctor this is something similar to an arthritis that can occur in that area, and other than NSAIDS which we cant take, there is not much we can do other than getting a pillow to sit on.

feel better : )

I bought a memory foam cushion online from Walmart.
I don't like to go to Walmart but they deliver free to the store & you pick it up.
I love movies & the cushion really helps.
