weight of extra skin?

The other night it just suddenly occurred to me that my extra skin weighs something and that weight would be gone if I had plastic surgery to remove it but I don't plan to do that because I can't afford it and because my extra skin is just not that bothersome to me.  I mean, it's certainly not causing rashes or anything, and if I am dressed it's really not noticeable.  If I wear a sleeveless shirt, you can see my batwings but they aren't horrible.  So anyway, this extra skin will be staying with me.

I'm just curious, though.  I've seen people say they were told they had 12 pounds of extra skin or 20 pounds of extra skin or whatever, and I was wondering, how do you know how many pounds of extra skin you have?  I mean, short of having it removed and weighing it.  Or having it removed and then weighing yourself to see how much you've lost.  I'm just wondering what my weight would be if I did have the skin removed.

Don't know if there is really any way to determine that. Depends on the person and if it's just skin or if there is possibly some fat w/ it. I'd say average for most on panni/TT is probably 3-5 lbs. 12 or 20 is very extreme. I had 9lbs removed w/ my lbl but I'd have to say I had fat along w/ the skin removed.

Ok, thanks.  3-5 pounds actually sounds more reasonable to me, I just know I've read posts where people had a lot more than that.

When I had my panniculectomy, the surgeon originally estimated that, because it hung signficantly below the pubic bone area, it would weigh 12-15 pounds (and another surgeon estimated 20).  It was only SIX because it was almost all skin (not much attached tissue or fat).  Other people have a lot of fat that remains attached to the skin and tissue, so theirs weighs more.

When I had my arms done (and you have seen the pics of the size of my old batwings!), I still only lost about 3 pounds combined (and my arms did still have some tissue at fat attached).

If it is truly mostly skin, it doesn't weigh very much.

Thanks.  It's kinda hard for me to tell but I think what I have is mostly just skin.

Other than it being weighed I don't see how anyone can know, guess sure.

I had PS and my surgeon told be prior to surgery he guesstimated I had 3-5 lbs of skin in the stomach area to be removed.  I actually had 3 1/2 lbs (very little fat he stated).  I think if I had had the LBL and had a thighplasty I'd have about another lb or 2 that could be removed.

On mine, I'm only going by what my surgeon said..he was lifting it all up and such. He said about 30-40 lbs I'm guessing closer to 20 but I know there IS fat in there too. I'll only find out once he removes it then again he may have been counting for the surgery he WANTS to do ..not the one insurance will pay for.  Insurance will pay for a panniculectomy..not the belt lipectomy with vertical in the front...which I guess is an anchor with all the way around instead of just hip to hip??

All in all I don't care if he only removes 5 lbs lol I just want this hanging bag of stuff GONE!!

I have wondered though..maybe have someone you trust..(I would have my fiance or mama do it)..stand on a scale..then again with them holding your skin?? Dunno how accurate it would be but could give you some idea...may be fun to try at least LOL may only work with those that have a big panni to actually "hold" though.

Question: How much does the human skin of a person's body alone weigh?

Answer: Human skin is the body's largest organ. The skin of an average adult weighs 8-10 pounds and averages an area of about 22 square feet.

Since I had TT and arm lift 2 months ago, I've lost 5 pounds.  I never heard (or asked) how much the skin weighed.  I do have some swelling in belly, but don't expect to lose any more weight.

I work to maintain my weight.  Plastic surgery was a "traumatic event" for me and it did upset my established eating plan and I find I have to kind of "start over" being really diligent.  I suppose any "event" can disrupt our well founded eating/exercising habits.

I asked the plastic surgeon on Friday, if I should back my protein intake down from 130gm a day to 100 gm a day (130 gm a day was begun 1 month pre-op plastics and for the last 2 months to recuperate).  He told me to stay at 130 gm a day if my kidneys are OK.  I will continue for another 4-6 weeks, but then I think I will reduce it to 100gm a day.  It's just too difficult to maintain such a high level for me.

In your pictures, you look good to me.
