4 days out from surgery--RAW nerves
Hi, everyone. This is my first post. I just had Roux-en-y surgery laparoscopically a few days ago, on Tuesday, July 26. Everything went well. I'm home from the hospital. My five incisions seem to be healing well. I'm struggling with getting enough liquid and protein though; it seems like I'm full just after a sip. I'm also struggling with feeling weak. On top of all this, my nerves are raw. I just want to cry and bite my husband's well-meaning head off (bless his heart...he's done nothing wrong). I also started my period for the SECOND TIME this month, and it's really bad/heavy. I guess my body is confused from the surgery.
I really am trying to stay positive, trying to remember why I chose the surgery. But i just feel BLUE. Is this normal?

Totally normal.
Most people struggle with their liquids and protein in the beginning. Try really, really hard, though, because that will help you feel stronger and less emotional.
You're feeling weak because you're still recovering from major surgery and because you're not getting many calories and you need more protein. But you know what? It's OK if you feel weak for a little while. Right now, all you need to do is rest, walk and drink. That's your job right now.
You're emotional because the surgery and medication kind of throws everything off balance and probably also because you used to rely on food a lot and right now you can't do that. Just be gentle with yourself. Start now finding other ways to comfort yourself besides food.
