Easy, well, yes and no.

Has the weight come off "easier", yes.  But only because I am a rule follower and followed all the pre and post surgery rules.

Will the weight be easier to keep off, hopefully.  But only if I follow all the rules.

Did it mean I didn't have to work at it, absoluetly not.  Planning meals, suppliments, exercise all take work and a major lifestyle committment not just for now, but for the rest of my life.

I  know you have to work at it.  We all  have to work at it.  It isn't easy.  I don't think there is any way to lose weight that is easy.  I'm just saying it's easier with WLS.  But yeah, you made a good point.  If we don't follow the rules, it may not be easier.  And yeah, I know following all the rules can be hard.

Blame those darned Puritans:  if it is too easy it can't possibly be worthwhile.  We are born to suffer.

Well, let them suffer.  I'd done my time in Diet Hell.  This surgery saved my life, and I suspect has
saved the lives of countless others.

I've always been 100% for doing things the easy way because it is often the most efficient.

Hurray for us!

Exactly.  That's what I was trying to get across.  Why do it the most difficult, slowest, most frustrating way possible?  This surgery hasn't been easy, I don't think there is any easy way to lose a lot of weight, but it's been easier for me to lose weight with my surgery than it was without surgery.

Amen, Sister! I've been describing my experience with WLS as "It's an effort, but not a struggle." For me, it has been work, but not nearly the uphill battle that prevous weight loss experiences have been (so far, at least).

Best,

Laura

I think you said it better than I did.  It's work for me and parts of it have been hard, but I feel like it's not an uphill battle.  At least I feel like I am on an even playing field.

This is my opinion on the subject. I haven't had surgery yet but I've had people say to me about it being the "easy way out". I noticed quite quickly that the majority of the people who say that are overweight themselves. I mean what overweight person wants to see their friend lose weight and at a faster pace than they themselves are? I am morbidly obese and so is my friend only she is about 50 lb heavier. She cut me down quickly saying it is the "easy way out". After a week or two of being on the defense, trying to talk me out of surgery, and finally getting down to it, she admitted to me that she doesn't want to be "the only fat girl" in our friendship. So when most people, but not all, say it is the "easy way out", read between the lines.
