My painful day in the Emergency Room.....
So yesterday morning I felt fine. I ran errands like normal and then I got home at about 1:30. Then all of a sudden my lower left side of my back hurt SO bad. It felt lie someone was stabbing me. I'm usually pretty okay with pain. I can take a lot of it and not complain. But this I couldn't. I worried that I was constipated or that something was wrong with my kidneys.
I called my mom and she took me to a clinic. By the time I got to a clinic I sounded like I was having a baby. I was crying and screaming. The clinic called 911 and I was in so much pain that I was sweating profusely. My fingers and toes were stuck in a weird position and I couldn't breathe or see. In the ambulance I was screaming bloody murder. The person riding with e kept asking me questions and I could barely answer any. I was just screaming and I couldn't really form words.
When we got to the hospital I still couldn't see and they were all worried because I was hyperventilating. For two hours without medicine I just had to sit in the room and I was screaming and dry heaving not stop. Thankfully I was able to control the screaming so I don't thin I disturbed the other people in the hospital TOO much.
I found out I had a kidney stone and as soon as they found that out they gave me medicine and I felt better. The medicine didn't last very long so I've been up all night. They gave me Tylenol with codeine for home. It doesn't work nearly as good as the stuff they gave me at the hospital.
So I just had to share my experience because it was such a lonely scary experience. I know it was only a kidney stone which are common but nothing ever hurt so bad. I'm so glad it's over. I hope the stone passes soon.

I have kidney stones... it is EXCRUCIATING... ask for dilaudid when you go to the ER cause morphine isnt good with kidney issues due to the constriction pain already causes. Tylenol with codeine IS SOO not strong enough... maybe you can ask for some percocets... next time..
Also SOME stones DO NOT pass. Mine dont... they just flare up every now and then...
Also see if you can schedule an appt with a urologist ASAP to see if there are other options..

I am so sorry to hear about your kidney stones. I had them when I was 28 wks pregnant with my son and I thought I was going into early labour... I was hysterical!I couldn't have any meds. I had to suffer through, so I totally get where you are coming from. One thing the Dr said was to have the juice of 1 lemon in water through out the day. Apparently it changes the pH of your urine just slightly, but enough to prevent the stones from crystallizing.
Feel better soon!

Wow. I hope the stone passes soon too. They think it will just pass by itself?

Oh golly, that stinks . When I read your post yesterday about not feeling well, I immediately thought... "kidney stone?" I had a similar experience about 3 years ago where I was fine and then immediately in horrendous pain. In fact, on my way to the ER after being seen and throwing up all over the urgent care clinic I was hurting so bad I told my my husband just to pull over and let me die, it was rotten. I was hospitalized for my stone though and had to have surgery to place a stent and then lithrotripsy as an outpatient a couple weeks later.
I sure hope you feel better real soon.
