You should be weighed and he should look at your incisions to make sure they are healing well.  He should ask about how you're feeling, what you've been eating and how much activity you've been getting.  You may be told to move to another stage of diet and should be told to start taking vitamins if you're not already taking them.

I'll be two weeks tomorrow and have my follow-up on Thursday.  Can't wait to get on the scale and get progressed from liquids to purees.

Oh, I am sooooo with you on getting okay'd to move on to the next stage of allowable food.  I'm seriously looking forward to cottage cheese and refried beans and well, just anything expect the protein drinks and liquid!!

How are you doing with loss and getting up and moving?

I haven't even been on protein drinks yet, just liquid.  So I am chomping at the bit for sure.  I did my trip to the grocery store yesterday to get all my food from when I'm approved to go to phase II and get all my mushy and pureed foods.  I've never wanted cottage cheese so badly in my life!  lol

Getting up and moving hasn't been a problem so far, I was pretty mobile even the day I got home from the hospital.  That's probably the thing I have been most shocked by was how it didn't seem to do more than slow me down.  I really thought all I'd want to do is just sit and nap.  Granted, I'm sure there can be a lot of "tired" days in the future as the malabsobtion kicks in and I go through the motions over the next weeks and months.

I haven't been weighing in just yet.  I told myself I wouldn't until I had my first follow-up.  I am sooooo excited to see how much I've lost, but I just really didn't want to get caught thinking about a number all the time since I'm not that far out.

No protein drinks yet?  Yikes!  How are you getting your protein in?  Will you ever move on to protein drinks or do you just blow through that and go to pureed stage?

I know exactly how you feel about the desire for cottage cheese. LOL  It's crazy but that's what I think I want the most.  I've read a lot on here about dumping on eggs and I'm a bit scared to try them.  I'll try them maybe in a week or two.  I just want to get my bearings with cottage cheese and refried beans first I think.

Yeah, moving around hasn't been bad at all!!  I was up and moving around the day after surgery.  O f course it was hunched over but hey, it was moving!  LOL

I bet you're doing great with weight loss and can't wait to hear how much you've lost when you get to the dr's on Thursday.  A lot of people say they gain while in the hospital though from all the fluids they are given.  So far I can tell I've lost weight (very little but I can tell) in my feet, hands and neck.  YAY!!  Exciting!!

So good luck on Thursday!!

Nope, no drinks, just straight onto shakes when I start the pureed stage.  Not sure what the reasoning is behind that.  But one thing I have learned is that we all have sooooooooo many different diets out there that seem to vary from surgeon to surgeon.  I feel weird when i think I've done nothing but drink for nearly two weeks when i read about people that are on puree as of day 3, etc...  But, for now at least, I'm still at that point where I don't feel like testing the waters just yet to find out how much I can find what works for me versus what the surgon wants me to do.  She's been AMAZING so far, so I am following it to a T for the meantime.

Some of the other things on my list to try were canned tuna and chicken and things like that... Just like the cottage cheese I can't beleieve how much I am looking forward to them.  I think as far as the healing process goes after any major surgery, it's getting back to more normal foods like that to help us feel the proverbial "normal" again.

I knew I gained some in the hospital just because of how my ID bracelet fit before and after.  Just looking at my legs and hands though I feel like all of tha****er weight went away pretty fast.  As strange as it may sound I feel like the one place I seem to fit into better already is my car.  I can't even begin to tell you why, but I just feel more comfortable in there which is mind-blowing.... because I've never fealt cramped or tight in there at all... and now it just feels bigger.

Good luck on Wednesday!  Can't wait to compare notes.
Dale
