How long should I keep my chicken in the crockpot? It went from frozen and it is on low. I don't want to dry it out.

I cook mine anywhere from 6-8 hours on low if it is from frozen.

I just got an article on food safety the other day and it says to never go from frozen. Apparently the temperature can't get high enough fast enough and it really increases the risk of food borne illness. It did say if you aren't going to stop using food from frozen, be sure to cook it on high in the crock pot so there is a chance of the temp getting to where it needs to in the time it needs to get there.

Sorry, don't have timing since I don't do it, but wanted to pass this along in case you hadn't heard it.

I start frozen many times, but I put it on high for an hour then on low for the remaining time.  I cook my chicken 6 hours, but  no longer than 8 though.

I've been crockpot cooking for over 15 years and can't tell you how many times I have cooked from frozen and I have never once got myself or my family sick(just personal experence. Can't speak for others)

As for your chicken, How are you cooking it? It's very difficult to dry food out in the crockpot. Hoping you added a little broth or water to it?

But I would say 6-9 hours depending if you have anything added with the chicken.

I seriously love my crockpot. Matter of fact I just made a meatloaf in mine today lol

I routinely let chicken go overnight starting from thawed. With enough fluid it won't dry out. I load it up with vegetables.
