I agree, it does get old really fast. It tends to always be the same people over and over too. I guess it is time to start blocking people....Good idea Laura. I dont understand why people dont just stick to their own type of board, unless it is the "Main board".

I understand completely.  I'm all for sharing info on the surgery that you have had when a new person asks.  But lately there have been threads just started to put down another surgery that person hasn't even had, those I don't understand unless it's your own personal experience and not something that you read or heard.

I agree Katie.

I do my best to avoid them now (unless I'm super bored and want a little entertainment).   I tread carefully on the main board, and even on this, my "home" forum.  People can be incredibly hard-headed and those with certain surgery types really believe they are "paying it forward" with their contributions to discussions.

I truly don't believe they do it out of malice.  The sad thing is that 99% of them are really great people, that I have come to like and admire, once I got beyond the "war" mentality.  They are kind and caring, just like most of the folks on this forum.  They have just been educated in a different mentality regarding communicating their surgery's merits.

And truthfully, there are some RnY's that make me cringe when I read their posts on whatever "war" thread happens to be running at the time. They don't know their stuff AND they are rude enough to put any DS'r to shame.

The whole thing is just sad.  I wish we could support each other more as a community, regardless of surgery type.  But then that brings us to the issue of defining "support".  Those with different surgeries seem to have different definitions.

Diversity make the world go 'round, I guess=)

I am fairly new here and have been very much a regular on another site.  I was planning on a different surgery and did much research and thought it was my very best choice for me personally.  I never forced my opinions on others.  Jumped through all the insurance hoops and they will not cover that surgery.

So now I am on this site trying to learn as much as I can from everyone here to educate myself entirely to understand what this surgery will be like.  There are people on all sites that try to play "know it all".  I believe like many  of you it is a very personal and intimate choice between a patient and their doctor to do what is right for your own health and life.

Thanks to all who ARE so very kind and sharing on this site!
