Worried how bad off I'll be

Congratulations on your up coming surgery!  I just had surgery on April 28.  I have five kids 7,6,3, and 1 year old twins.  My husband was home for 2 weeks and then went back to work and I was fine alone with all five kids.  I did not do anything extra (like house work or errends) I just took care of everyones basic needs and watched cartoons with them.

Thanks :)
what you did sounds like a plan to me, I need to spend more quality time with the kids anyway.

I agree that you'll be fine (barring any surgery complications).  You'll get tired easily, but if you get the other three off to school, you can nap when the 3 year old naps if you need to.

I have a 2 and 4 year old in daycare (I work full time) and I was able to get them off to daycare and myself to work the week after surgery.

Heres hoping surgery goes smoothly. I have had 2 other major surgeries and went through them fine.

thanks for the advice everyone. I'm going to call my good friend and discuss her coming over to give me a hand after I get home. My husband is taking off some time and I have a second helper who lives with me (long story it's my ex-husband)
So I have lots of help, just not in the very mornings when I get kids ready for school. I'll have a couple weeks to get ready for that.

My son had his first birthday a week after my RNY and my husband went back to work the day after I got home from the hospital.  It really wasn't that difficult!

At your kids' ages there would be something wrong if they couldn't do stuff for themselves and each other ...

Unless you have complications, you should be up and on the go once you get home - you will be able to rest, if necessary while they are at school!

Good luck and DON"T cancel your surgery!

I agree, my oldest 2 should be able to help themsleves and help a little with their siblings.

I have no plans to cancel. I have worked too hard for this and really want it. I think mom is just being overprotective of her grand kids.

thanks :)

Congratulations on having 4 kids that listen to you!
If you can do that.....surgery should be a breeze for you!
