got my lab results

I had labs drawn last week and got my lab report today.  There are still a couple labs pending, copper and selenium, but I don't expect any problems there.  My labs are all good.  And when I say that, I really mean it, I don't just mean that my doc said they were good.

I usually get labs done every six months but this time it was more like eight months.

My B12 is 1286.  I'm delighted.  Last time it was on the low side.  I've been doing shots once a week.  I think I'm gonna keep doing that.  Or should I maybe cut back a little?  Anybody got an opinion on that one?

My vitamin D is 142!  Last time it was low.  I've been taking 50,000 IU D3 four times a week.  I'm gonna cut back on that some.  Do you all think I should start doing it three times a week or just twice a week?

Last time my vitamin A was slightly low and now it's in the middle of the normal range.  My zinc was at the bottom of the normal range and now it's in the middle.

My protein is 7.0.  Without eating meat.

I was thinking my iron was going to be low because I've been really tired lately and I'm bruising easily and I'm dizzy a lot.  But nope, it is150.  And guess what my ferritin is?  140!  Now, that's actually down quite a bit from eight months ago, then it was 222, but still....I'm quite happy with it.

The only bad thing, if you want to call it that, is that my labs don't explain why I've been so tired and dizzy.  I was hoping it would be some vitamin deficiency and then it would be easy to fix.

I'm not posting the rest of my results because there's such a long list of them and I'm lazy.

You could try cutting the B12 to every other week and see where it is in 3 months.

I didn't have my thyroid checked this time but I've had it checked several times in the past and it's always been normal.

I agree on having the thyroid tested if they didn't already. Your vitamin D is 3x what mine is. I am taking the 50K dry now in hopes it will be up by my six month labs.

What is a good range for protein?

My lab report lists the normal range as 6.4 - 8.3, but I like it at least 7.0.

Where can I get the correct kid of vitamin d and how much are you supposed to take?

You need dry D3, which you can find just about anywhere you buy vitamins.  It needs to be D3, not D2, and not in oil.  That  means it will be a tablet or a capsule with powder in it, not one of those softgel things that look like little footballs and have oily stuff in them.

Stores don't usually carry bit doses, though.  I buy my 50,000 IU D3 from vitalady.com.

How much you are supposed to take depends on your vitamin D level.  You need your vitamin D level at least 80.  Have you had your level checked?

When you get the results, make sure you get the actual numbers.  Don't just ask your doc if it's OK or not.  'Cause they often tell you your D level is fine when it's much lower than 80, which is not really fine at all.
