Headache for 3 weeks
I'm so sorry that you are suffering with head pain. I too had major headaches for a long time before surgery which also included a lot of migraines. I have been fortunate enough that mine improved with my weight loss. I did have a doozy of a migraine while in the hospital after my surgery. They put ice packs on my neck and forehead and that helped. It really sucks that it's been 3 weeks and you've had no relief. Have you tried seeing a neurologist for them? Also I found out that sometimes a sinus issue can be mistaken for a migraine or vice versa. Another cause for some of my headaches was bad tension in my neck and jaw. I was prescribed Flexiril for those headaches and that helped so much. Good luck! I hope it all works out for you.
After years of migraines, I was found to have TMJ. Two years of mouth appliances, braces and jaw surgery helped so much. Stress caused many of my migraines. When I changed careers and began doing something less stressful the migraines were less.
I have very few since my RNY.
Are you getting 65+ oz of non caffeine fluids daily?? Dehydration and drinking caffeine will cause headaches.
Are you getting 8 hours of good uninterrupted sleep each night?
Both of these things can help. Food allergies OR insensitivities may also be involved.
I hope you get to the root of them. Best wishes.

OKay, what helps me when I have major headaches (oh do I feel your pain) is to take a couple of squirts from a mentholated nasal spray and to rub some flexal on the back of my neck, my forehead (and it really does make your eyes burn), into my temples and sometimes even on my chest so I can breath in the smell. I also take a cold or hot shower, depending on which one feels best on my poor head at the time. Hot tea is also nice when my head is about to explode.
If warm feels good, take a sock and fill it with uncooked rice (not the quick rice or minute rice, but long cook stuff) and put it in the nuker for about 3 mins. It should smell nutty and soothing. If you have any lavender (the real stuff, not the scented oil) you can put some of that in there as well. Rosemary is also nice in the rice sock. Anyway!!! nuke it until it is warm and then put it on your neck. If cold feels better, take that rice sock and put it in the freezer for about 15 mins.
Just some cheap ideas :) I hope you feel better quick!!!

My husband used to get migraines that were horrible, and completely debilitating. Could not open his eyes, walk without assistance, vomiting, extreme pain. I dragged him to our doctor and they gave him an injection of Imitrex. It was like a miracle! Broke the headache almost immediately.
The doctor explained that Imitrex is actually a diagnostic for migraine. If it is a true migraine, Imitrex works. If it doesn't... then they need to look at other causes.
It does come in tablet form and in a nasal spray. The nasal spray is great for my husband, because he can't keep the tablets down when he has an attack.
Hope you find a way out of your pain! I have seen firsthand how aweful a migraine can be!
