My incision healed funny.

Since the surgery I CAN'T stand up straight. I had open rny in march and it seems like my scar healed in a way where I have to slouch. It is starting to hurt my back and when I try to stretch it, the muscles there really hurt. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stretch the scar out so its not so tight?? Has anyone else had this problem? My scar is about 4 inches long. This was my first surgery so it might be completely normal I just wouldn't know.

i felt like that with my first csection scar. it gets better with time. my mom got her hip replaced recently & they apply heat & massage to the area to make her scar more "supple" lol funny word.

You likely 1) have some scar tissue built up under the incision, and 2) are having trouble with the tightness of where the surgeon sutured the muscle back together.  Massaging the incision area will help break up the scar tissue under the skin, but you will have to force yourself to stretch your abdominal muscle gently, little by little, in order to get it to loosen up a bit.  Do NOT give in to the temptation to slouch, because it will just keep that area tight and cause back and shoulder problems.

I had open also and the first few weeks I was the same way I had to gently start stretching it out like Lora said. Except my scar line is no like 12in long. It will get better just rub it and work it out some.
