Results of multivitamin poll

Some people said they sometimes take one kind of multi and sometimes take something else.  I counted whichever one it seemed like they took the most.

A multi that you swallow, like Centrum - 20

A chewable multi but NOT one specifically made for bariatric folks, like chewable Centrum - 8

A special chewable bariatric vitamin, like Celebrate or Bariatric Advantage - 12

A special bariatric vitamin that you swallow, like Celebrate or Bariatric Advantage - 3

Celebrate’s ENS (it’s a drink mix that is a multi plus 500 mg calcium) - 1

One of those all-in-one bariatric vitamins like Bariatric Fusion or Optisource - 0

Kids’ vitamins, like Flintstones – 3 (I was happy to see not many people taking Flintstones.  A lot of people said their doctor recommended Flintstones but they did not follow that recommendation and took an adult vitamin instead, which I think is fantastic.)

Gummy vitamins - 0

No multi at all - 1

I posted a poll here on the RNY forum a couple days ago and people responded with what multi they take and I counted up the results.

Have you ever done a calcium poll here? I didn't search to see, but sounds like a interesting poll to me.

Have you ever heard of oyster shell calcium? I met someone taking this. I don't take it. I heard it contains toxic heavy metals and is similar to carbonate as far as absorption for us, but not sure.

I haven't done a calcium poll but was thinking I would sometime soon.

I've heard of oyster shell calcium but I don't really know anything about it.

Kelly.....fabulous picture!

At my 12 week post op checkup my surgeon said I could stop the chewables and start back on  the pills. I still had a bunch of chewable MVI & Calcium (Bariatric Advantage) to finish off but I needed a change so I started back on the pill form (Centrum-2/day, Ca++ Citrate 4/day). Well about a week later I started getting legs cramps and suspected that the pills weren't getting absorbed like the chewables. So I'm back on the chewables. No more leg cramps. As soon as I finish off this last batch of calcium I'm going to get some UpCal as you had once suggested.
