Cancelled!!!!
Well, I finally stopped crying. As of 10:30 this morning my surgery is cancelled for the time being. Seems I am a previously undiagnosed diabetic. Employee health called to say my sugars were a little high on my chenistries (I hang chemo and get labs every year). So my surgeon added Hgb a1c to pre op labs yesterday. It was 7.6. Has to be less than 7 for surgery. Random sugar this afternoon was above 200.
I will see new family doctor Monday, but my boss may not be able to cover my medical leave till Novmber!!! Surgeon wantsd to do it late August if a1c down.
I was so ready to do this a week from Monday!!!

just seems like something always gets in your way . maybe its a test to see how strong we actually are . just cause its canceled doesnt mean ur not gettin it . hang hard sista . ur day will come. and just sit down and explain to your boss whats going on . hope it all works out in your favor. i really do.
Well that stinks but you don't want to go into surgery without everything being the best possible. So get this fixed and hopefully you boss will work miracles and you can get your surgery sooner instead fo later.

The good news about all this... you'll be diabetic for a few months, then statistically it should go away. Mine did and I had it for 6 yrs. Next month would have been my 6 years!!!!!!!!!!!! I no longer have it.
When I went from lapband to bypass, it kept getting delayed. It gave me more time to think. It gave me more time to practice post op habits. I give a lot of credit to that practice to why I am doing so well. Being a revision, statistics are against me. But it's working... and working well. I credit my surgeon for giving me another chance, and my attitude with a lot of it.

I also went through delays due to insurance issues. BUT....when the day finally came, I was absolutely more prepared and ABSOLUTELY more ready for the whole experience.
Don't look at it as cancelled. Look at is as postponed until you are physically in the best possible place to go through a major surgery. Your surgeon has reasons for wanting to keep all risk factors as low as possible - trust him and stay the course!

I know the feeling! My surgery was canceled a week prior because of some insurance crap! The hospital that my surgeon had practiced at for years had lost their accreditation with my insurance company and the surgeon had to find a new hospital that would allow him to practice there that was approved by insurance! To top it all off, that was only one of the many bad things going on in my life at that time. It just seemed like door after door kept slamming in my face and I swear I cried for a month! Surgery was postponed for about 2 months, and eventually everything worked itself out. Now I can think back on that time and laugh (as you will be able to do one day as well) because everything happens for a reason. As I reflect, every one of those things had to happen in order for me to be exactly where I am now, and I know that when a door closes, God is going to open more! And in your case--you need to be healthy before you go into any surgical procedure! Cry for a little while...we are human after all! But please know that this too will pass and will be a distant memory! Hang in there :)

Thanks so much for the kind words and support. Well Boss really can't cover me being off till November. Great news is. My coworker wont be back from maternity leave till late November. So guess who will be on leave and not working any holidays this year. Woohoo!!! I pointed that out to her and she said go for it.!!!!! So Monday I call and get set up for late November and let the games begin. It will also give me more time to get sugars and a1c down and get conditioned.
