SALT
Yes, please!
Seriously...sodium is a big consideration for many of us for various reasons. I personally eat way too much of it via table salt (...and lunch meat...and a few other things). I admit it, I embrace the consequences. My poor mother flinches as I salt food before I've even tasted it. (That's bad, by the way, don't do that)
As a first step toward reformation I've tried to at least be more aware of sodium in my food. I'll tackle table salt at a later date. I dunno, maybe when I am 80. (Not that this is a justification, but any of you who might worry for my health upon reading this, know that even my PCP is mystified by my perfect 120/80 blood pressure. I keep getting the "your good fortune will run out some day!" Admonitions. My reply? I'm a work in progress...)
Anyhoo, getting off of "five reasons you DON'T wanna be like Nik"...what does the nutrition label have to say about sodium? Read today's Bariatric Foodie and find out!

I am a HUGE salt fan, as well. I worry about it sometimes, but have always had low blood pressure so I haven't been TOO concerned. In fact, my son found the margarita flavored Crystal Light and I'm so hooked on that; I even top it off with salt like a real margarita (minus the alcohol). And my all time favorite snack is turkey pepperoni chips with cheese spread. That has to be one of the most horrific salty snacks out there, but its just so good!!

I put salt on nearly anything:
-fruit (sea salt on slightly overripe watermelon is HEAVEN)
-fruit that we think are veggies (tomatoes and salt. Nothing else needed there)
-caramel
-chocolate
I love salty seafood (I'm the one who eats the old bay off the shell of the crab), salty cured meats, salty cheeses, just anything with salt. I love.
I'm trying to cut down though. I'm sure someday I'll have some sort of ill health effect and I'll look back and go, "it was the SALT!"

With a typical BP of 104/68, I don't worry about sodium (except during the summer when I tend to retain water from the heat). It doesn't keep me from salting watermelon, canteloupe, and tomatoes, though! (Salting chocolate, Nik?!? That's a new one!)
I have noticed, though, that since my surgery I am much more sensitive to salt in deli meat. Many types oif ham I just cannot eat because it tastes SO salty!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Oh no, no Lora...the chocolate comes with salt already on it!
