  1. Your favorite book of the series.
    The Order of the Phoenix

  2. Your favorite character in the series
Hmmm... can I have a tie?
The Weasly twins and Professor Snape.
(The twins only count as one character, IMHO.)

  3. If you went to Hogwarts, which house would you be in?
I imagine either Ravenclaw or, yes, Slytherin.

  4. If you could have changed one event/relationship/plot piece in the series, what would it have been and why?
(Oh, you'll be sorry you asked...)
I was sorely disappointed when I came to the part in the book where Snape was killed off. In fact, that's when I stopped watching the movies. It just seemed so trite to me. Honestly, the old stand-by about only being redeemable through death seems kind of a cop-out to me. Boromir could have been such an interesting character if he had had to live with his own treachery, and overcome it. Smeogol was showing such intriguing character development after spending time with Sam and Frodo.  I kind of felt like there was a wasted chance there to do something really interesting with the ideas of transgression, regret and redemption.
And Snape had already gone through so much to atone...
(And Alan Rickman is sexy as all hell, but I digress...)

And while killing off one of the twins is understandable for the sake of building gravitas and drama, I really thought the Weasly twins had played a big enough role in the story to merit an "on-stage" death, rather than just having the death recounted by someone else. I mean, how much writing was lavished on the preparation for the wedding of Bill and Fleur, yet a few pages couldn't be allotted to the death of one of the two most daring and defiant rebels against Voldemort and oppression in general?
