Tofu?

Does anyone have a lot experience with tofu? Is it a good source of protein? What do people do with it? I am also really sensitive to texture so I would probably only like really firm tofu. Thoughts?

Tofu takes on the taste of whatever you combine it with - mix it with cheese, it tastes and acts like cheese. I have used it to make stuffed manicotti in the past. Try allrecipes.com for other recipes.

I enjoy pre-seasoned tofu.  Barbeque & teriyaki are both good.  Just heat & serve, very easy.

I LOVE tofu!  It is a great source of protein, and I have discussed it with my nutritionist  - she said it is a wonderful easy to break down source of protein after surgery!  If you want a tougher texture, make sure to get the extra firm tofu, and press it before you cook with it - to get out as much water as possible!

I buy the baked tofu from Trader Joes.  It's very firm and comes seasoned 2 different ways.  Very good and my dietitian was happy to hear that I'd found it!

Like one poster said, press it before cooking.  My NUT recommended wrapping it and placing something heavy on it for 30 minutes or so prior to cooking to get some of the water out.  As another poster said, it takes on the flavor of however it is seasoned.  I use it in stir-fry.  It is great.
