SERIOUSLY ANNOYED!!!

Wow! That is hard to break a habit set in stone by your parents. We were also part of that clean your plate club!! If we didnt we had to eat it for breakfast/lunch/or dinner the next day until it was gone. Those are the days I wished heartily for a dog under the table, lol. I, however was not an obese child because I had such intense activity in my life that I burned it off. As an adult wtih the same eating habits and less movement I packed the weight on quickly.
I think families with morbidly obese children do need help/education..whatever. I just do not think this is a blanket solution. I have a friend that has a 10 year old child that is over 200lbs. There are several medical conditions this child has that is keeping her obese. In public, because the mom is overweight, I am sure they get lots of stares and dirty looks and attitude. The child is in structured exercise classes a few times a week, in the local girl scouts...she is really out there being active. She eats healthy and is monitored closely by a doctor but ....it took them years to figure out what was wrong. What if the law was already passed? This mother who was doing EVERYTHING right would have lost her daughter due to a quick judgement of her parenting skills. The problem with act first, ask later is that it is very emotionally damaging. Finding out the child had a medical problem down the road would not have given that time back to them as a family.
I get the premiss of this idea, I do however think it is very flawed.
