bruising really easily

Lately I have noticed I am bruising really easily.  My legs are just covered with bruises and I have no idea what they are even from.  Other than low iron, what might cause that?  Low vitamin K, maybe?  I feel certain it's not iron because I take plenty of that.  It is a little past time to get labs done, though.

Low iron, low K - we need loads of vit K - K 1 and K2. They are essential.  K 1 is for the bruising but K 2 is essential for bone health and bruising. Google that.
Also - copper..and other minerals and last but not least - bioflavanoids. So - vit C+ bioflavanoids are a must.

BTW: for a quick sollution - not only take vit K,  (K1 and K2 combined) but there are creams with Vit K.  Y^ou can get them in health food stores, and apply topically for a fast delivery into the trouble areas.
Jason brand with K gave me great results when I was bruising really bad... cheaper on line in places like vitacos.com or Luckyvitamins.com

I had severe bruising on my arms that began around one year post op and continued on.  I asked our bariatric surgical nurse, and she suggested the vitamin K, which helps with clotting.  I began taking one additional vitamin K (cheap ones from Puritan Pride) and noted an improvement within about a week. I then upped it to 2 of these K pills per day, with futher improvement. I used to get bruising all the time, with no recollection of what caused it. I had not done any heavy physical labor, fallen down, ran into furniture, etc.  Today, with 2 K per day, I rarely get any bruising. If I do some more than minor trauma to my arms, I will see some bruising, but it's far less than before.  This is my expereince, and I strongly suspect it's likely to help you too. DAVFE

I have been looking for Vitamin K in drug stores. Haven't found any yet. Is it sold as any other name?? (ex. BIOTIN is Vitamin B6 I think)

Might have to order the K online.

I think biotin is actually B7, but I may be mistaken on that one.

Most regular drug stores do not carry it because it is not commonly used by non-WLSers.  You will need to go to either a very large drugstore or a health food store (GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, etc.) or order it online.  It is almost always in 100mcg dose for the K2.  K1 varies a lot (and can be even harder to find).

Kelly, I was thinking Vit K also but maybe ferritin as well?  I just went to the hematologist yesterday because my ferritin was low at 10, and I will be getting IV iron infusions. I was noticing that bruises (even from labs draws) would take a long time to heal.

Last time I had labs done, about 8 months ago, my ferritin was 222.  I'd be amazed if it was low now, when it was that high then.  But I do plan to go get labs done sometime next week, so we'll see.
