Not enough calories

I hate to say it, but you really gotta try getting the protein shakes in.  Even if you don't like them, I am sure you can find one that isn't horribly offensive.  I use the Syntax Nectar, 2x a day, plus I have my water and 3 meals a day, usually dairy in the morning with some raspberries or applesauce; afternoon is tuna or chicken and some veggies like Zucchini or a salad; evening is the same as lunch.  So in total I am getting about 700 cal at 3 months out from surgery, which is where the Dr. wants me (no more than 1000, but I can't imagine that!).

Your body is going to rebel big time here soon.  They even make unflavored protein you can add to things like pudding and soup...have you tried those?

I like the isopure juice style drinks too, the shakes are hard to get down sometimes.  Our GNC carries more than grape and punch (thank goodness)  Blue raspberry and icy orange are the 2 best for me. Apple melon is nasty! Good luck

Kattie, you've gotten some good advice here.

The one thing I have to add is that there are a plethora of protein supplement types out there. Check out Nashua Nutrition. They make protein pudding, Jell-O, "add water and mix meals" and more. Protein supplement does NOT have to mean protein shake.

Protein drink also does not have to mean cold protein drink. If you have central AC especially, investigate some hot protein drinks. You can do hot protein cocoa, salted protein cocoa, protein coffees, protein lattes, protein chai. Check Bariatric Foodie. On the right hand side if you scroll down there is a category of "hot protein drinks." That will give you an idea of the possibilities.

To make this work you HAVE to think outside the box. Yes, not eating enough is dangerous. YES, it will be work to eat more. That's why this is not the easy way out. So you know your task. Get to it.
