Tough love time...and many of you won't like me after reading this

Well said Nik!!!
I'm pre op and won't be a newbie until late October or early November time frame and I know it's going to be tough a journey. I don't post much but I'm sitting back absorbing everything from the futherouts and also learning from my bff, who just had surgery in Feb.
Thanks for the post!

I am a certified newbie--don't have surgery until Monday, July 11. I have been reading, studying, talking to people at my surgeon's office, and completely agree with you. I certainly don't know everything yet, but it is definitely MY responsbibility to do the work and do it correctly. It does get a little overwhelming and confusing sometimes, especially with the varying opinions posted here. I just love what you say about being "empowered to take control". For too long, I've let food and outside forces control me and my decisions. Thanks for all your great posts!
Thanks Nik, I applaud you for your words. It reminds me why I had surgery in the first place. It is for my health and I want to live a healthy life. I came to my decision by research, research and more research. I knew what was expected of me, and knew this was not going to be a walk in the park. I am one week and a day from surgery and feel like this was the best decision that I have ever made. One day at a time, live not in the past or the future, but for the present. Again Nik thanks!!!
As a pre-op (Aug 1 surgery date!), I completely agree with your sentiments.
However, regarding the repetitive questions (and lack of response to most of them), I think the main issue is the way this board is set-up. Instead of having posts bumped to the top after a new response, they soon get lost in the flood of new posts. This encourages others to post the same question, as prior threads with the same topic could be buried pages back (even if asked the previous day) and no one is going to respond to a question posted on one of those threads.
I think if the set-up of these forums were organized differently, you wouldn't see the same questions asked day after day. It would also encourage more people to respond, knowing it wouldn't be as likely to see the exact same question asked 2 hours later.
