I am heading to my pcp this afternoon and I was wanting to ask him if he will run the blood test for me. As my surgeons office does them a 6 months and there on out. I am feeling kinda run down so I know I want iron checked but what else should I ask for. I remember someone posting a list but can not find it.

Thanks

Cheryl

If you're feeling run down, I would at least get iron, B12 and D.

Here's the whole list of what I get, though.  I do these every six months.

CMP
Lipid Profile
CBC with differential
B12
Bili-direct
Ferritin

Iron/TIBC

PTH
Magnesium
Folate
Thiamine (B1)

B6

Vitamin E

Vitamin K
Uric Acid
Vitamin A

Vitamin D (25 hydroxy)

Zinc
Phosphorus
Copper

Selenium

Prealbumin

Thanks Kelly I was hoping you were still around this morning and would see this. Now I just hqave to convince my pcp to order them...he has a bit of a god complex.

You know how I get my PCP to order mine?  Well, she's pretty good about working with me and doesn't really have the God complex, but anyway, I just take her the list and say "It's time to get my blood work done again because of my gastric bypass.  Here's the list of what I need."  I'm not sure if she realizes I put that list together myself, based on my reading and stuff, or if she thinks it's actually a list I got from my surgeon.

However, any time I have a doc that doesn't want to order something I think I need, I listen to them tell me I don't really need it and then say "You know, I would just really feel more comfortable if I had that test done."  That worked when my surgeon didn't want to order a bone density scan for me at one year post op.

 Thanks Kelly
I asked him to run them and he said he would but wants to clear it with my surgeon so that he is not stepping on anyones toes. Which I guess I can understand so I have to get my surgeons office to ok it and then go back into see my pcp. He did agree that it is good to stay on top of my labs esp with having had wls. So that made me happy.

Again thanks for the info. I really aprreciate you helping me out.
