Random Poll o' the Week: What's in a name?
1) My first name is Jackie (Short for Jacqueline)
2) I was born in the early 60's...My Mom was a huge fan of Jacqueline Kennedy (sigh!)
3) Dawn (I have NO idea why they named me Jackie Dawn...Never asked them. I think they randomly pulled it out of their butts)
Since I am the first American born citizen in my family, maybe Dawn was someone from back in the Old Country(??) My Mom was a Holocaust survivor.
Warmly,
Jackie

1) My first name is Amanda, but I punch anyone who calls me that. So I go by Mandee.
2) My parents chose Amanda because my dad liked this old country song with the same name and my mom's grandfather called her grandmother Mandy, despite the fact that her name was Maggie. Anyways, in the first grade another girl had my name and was also called Mandy. So I changed the spelling to Mandee because I didn't like that girl. I tell people that I was named after the Barry Manilow song, but nope.
3) My Middle name is Beth. I tell people it is because of the Kiss song, but again, I lie.

1. Jo Anne
2. My parents liked the name but disagreed as to spelling. My father wanted it to be Jo Anne, and my mother wanted it to be Joanne. My mother taught me to spell it Joanne. When I was in high school I found my birth certificate, and it was Jo Anne. I never ever felt like my name fit me. At confirmation in grade 5 I wanted to be Theresa, but 5 other girls chose Theresa. So, I chose to use my mother's name as my confirmation name, Rita. I never use Rita. But I have changed my first name several times - at major turning and transition points in my life. Since it is so unusual, I don't use it here just for privacy reasons.
3. No middle name was given, unless you count Jo as first name and Anne as middle name.
4. I have a SIN number. (that would be Canadian for Social Insurance Number).
Great question Nik eye. Jo Anne (in any form) means God's gracious gift. I am always surprised to find out that people don't know the meaning of their name. It is the most important word in any language - and has the power to grab your attention whenever it is called out - even if not meant for you. Having changed my name several times, I can say that it definitely changes how I feel about, and relate to myself. It also has influence on how people relate to me.
Many women know a little bit about this because we sometimes change our last name when we get married or divorced.

1- Betty and that is exactly how it is on the birth certificate. Had issues in school because no one believed that was my given name.
2- named for an aunt on my fathers side. Her birth name was Mae Agnes, not sure how she got called Betty, but that's all I ever heard any one call her.
3- Rae. Perhaps to go along with my sister, who's middle name is Mae.

Well as everyone can see my name is Samantha lol
Because my mother was a huge fan of the show Bewitched and her favorite actress was Elizabeth Montgomery. So my name was a toss up between Samantha or Elizabath. I think a coin toss was the deciding factor if I remember right lol
Middle name is June....I was born in june. Ya, not very original on her part lol
