nausea and diarrhea
I am 9 days post op....I have been feeling pretty good. No problems since surgery. I woke up this morning with diarrhea...then I went back to sleep for about an hour. When I woke back up I had diarrhea again and I am nauseous. I have never had an issue with these things post op until now. I am a big worrier so I'm freaking myself out. I do not have a faver so thats a good thing... I did have over 70oz of fluid yesterday....maybe that's why I have diarrhea? I just don't know. I am waiting for a call back from the doctor just to make sure. Anyone else have this?

Hi!! Yes, I had a couple instances of diahara.........but no nausea. I figured out if I ate to many unsweetened popsicles it would cause that. So now I only limit myself to 2 a day. I am sure you will be fine..........try to relax........I'm only 16 days out.......the liquid diet doesn't help!! -Holly
Don't worry too much. Nausea and diarrhea seem to be par for the course in the beginning. I get both on occassion with no rhyme or reason. Keep a food journal so you can figure out if there are trigger foods. I have trouble with dairy, others get diarrhea from sugar alcohols in sugar free products. And nausea comes and goes. I noticed that, at about 2 weeks out, nausea became a sign that my pouch was empty.
Thank you so much for the response! Actually I had four sugar free Popsicles last night so that definitely could be it! Thank you so much. How are you feeling at 16 days out?

All of that makes total sense and I sure hope it's too many popsicles! If your symptoms persist, my friend, who has not had any kind of surgery, may have had an experience which might apply to you. She had diarrhea and nausea after eating any kind of food, and also bad heartburn and feeling like she needed to burp but could not. Turns out she has a gallstone. I don't want to alarm you and I myself do not have any experience with this feeling, but would like you to keep on a lookout for pain under the ribcage also. Of course, report all symptoms to your doctor as soon as you can. Good luck and I hope it's nothing!
