OT: dissertation proposal in (better late than never)

It is several weeks late, but I sent it off about an hour ago.  I don't even know if this new advisor will accept it (more likely it will come back with a buttload of requested changes...), but at least I got something done and submitted.  With everything else that has been going on since April, that -- in and of itself -- is an accomplishment.  Right now I don't even care if it gets accepted or I have to rework it... I'm just glad to be able to take a break from thinking about it for a while.

I still sometimes wonder what the heck I was thinking when I decided I needed a PhD just because I knew I could do it...

I feel your pain.  I am working on my masters in public health and am doing my practicum this summer.  That basically means that I had to fit an additional 200 hours into my schedule between working full-time and having a life.  Oh wait!  I never had a life.  LOL!  Sorry, been working on data analysis in between doing other stuff at work tonight.  I really hate statistics.

<-------Pharmacist  I can answer general questions, but for more serious questions always ask your surgeon.

I bet what you sent off is better than what you think.. We are often too hard on ourselves, in turn leading to self doubt. I have read many of your post, you are very thought provoking and intelligent. Best of luck, I am sure you will do just fine!!

Even if it comes back with a ton of requested changes, just finishing it is a huge accomplishment and something to be very proud of.  I'm sure that getting it off your plate is an enormous relief.

If you don't mind my asking, what was the subject of your dissertation?

After my first bout with cancer, the therapist I was seeing suggesting daily journaling and doing that enabled me to get at the heart of what was bringing me down.   Kudos!  I think it is a very effective method.

Congrats, Lora!! Accepted the first time or not, it's progress and I KNOW that makes you feel better.

You seem much more positive since your visit with the surgeon.  I hope this is a turning point for you!  You deserve it!!!

Congratulations on finishing your dissertation. It's a huge accomplishment!
I suffer from PTSD and would love to find a good doctor to help me with it. Maybe I'll look you up one day. ;o)

Unfortunately, it's only the dissertation proposal that is finished, not the paper itself, but it has been a  long road through all the classwork and the preparation of the proposal!
