1 week post op...soooo sick of sweet!!

I can't handle sweet stuff any longer. I am trying to be positive but this is really making my recovery hard. I cannot handle anymore pudding and protein shakes! They are just too hard to get down now. I cannot wait to eat refried beans and lowfat cheese! That's not for another week though. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also does anyone have any advice for some way to jazz up cottage cheese 1 week out? Seasoning or dressing or something? I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my pouch or plan though. Just don't have any ideas.

When I was on liquid only the only non-sweet protein that I had was Unjury chicken soup protein powder.  It's actually pretty good.  Unfortunately unless you already have some it takes awhile to ship.  I'm not sure if there is another brand of something similar that is more readily available in stores?

I sympathize with you though.  I'm 3 weeks out and am having trouble with my protein shakes too.

After hearing about it on OH, I put hot sauce in my cottage cheese and loved it.

I understand how you feel.  At 4 weeks post op I'm still pretty limited on food choices, but I'm trying to look at it this way... this time that food choices are very limited, is a very short time considering I have the rest of my life to live. Hang in there, you're not alone

I mix a little light yogurt with my cottage cheese to flavor it.  Yogurt that's been frozen is pretty good too.  I know, still sweet stuff.  Maybe sip some broth as part of your liquid intake?

Put some ricotta cheese in a bowl, top with spaghetti sauce and microwave.  Like having lasanga.

Broth with unflavored protein, decaf coffee with vanilla, chocolate or whatever protein, herb tea with unflavored protein.  Unjury chicken soup. If you can have V8, put unflavored protein in that.
I was tired of the sweet stuff also.  Those things helped get me through until the next phase.  It is just a short time so grin and bear it.  Keep the end goal in mind.

I loved tomato soup and blended cream of mushroom soup.  If you have unflavored protein powder, put a little in.  At least it was hot and not sweet.  The best of luck... it does get better.

I went through the same thing.  I couldn't handle anything sweet anymore either, broth also made me want to spew.  So what I was able to to was take low fat cream of potato soup--1/2 can.  Blend that with a 1/4 cup milk and some low-fat cheese.  Heat it in the microwave and add some pepper.  It was thin and went down beautifully.  It was heaven and got me through my liquid phase!

Good luck.   You can make it through one more week!
