I have tried plain Cheerios, Honey Bunches of Oats with Strawberries and plain Kellogg's Flakes and I did fine with those, i dont eat them every day, actually I have only tried each of those once in the last 3 months.

Also as far as drinking milk with your cereal, I dont drink the milk after the cereal is gone, actually I only have about 1/4c cereal and all that ever seems to need is a few table spoons for milk, just enough to make it a lil moist, whatever milk is left over that was not soaked into the cereal I pour out, I also do not put milk on the spoon as I getting a bite.

I have a very small bowl of Kashi occasionally... good protein, yummy cereal, I put on enough milk to make it moist, and there are several kinds, some are higher carbs than others... I don't eat alot of carbs elsewhere, and I need the fiber, so I look at it as an even trade. Small bites and chew well!

I was told when eating cereal you should eat it dry cause the milk will be like drinking with the meal, but for me i could not eat cereal without little milk and today being in my 6 week post op I had banana with it for the first time and it went down good. I wont do that all the time since bananas are an heavy fruit  but i wanted to try it cause i like the taste of bananas.  t one of my meetings I was told that kashi go lean has more sugar than we should be eating so thats why I have not tried that at this time. what suggestions doe anyone have for breakfast beside egg, and cheeros? I been eating and egg mostly but want different ideas at this stage. so far what every solid food I ate stayed down and nothing gave me any problems. I eat small portions and made sure that I followed my intruction from my dietionist to eat my meat first since thats the high protein the if still hungry eat little veggie. the most i can eat is no more than 6 oz total at a meal and sometime less than that. any info will be great. thanks   Roxanne

I do either Kashi Go Lean or Bear Naked Peak Protein Granola.  I sprinkle some in my greek yogurt in the morning to give is some crunch.

If you do have cereal - it shouldn't be your meal.  Protein is always first in our meal or planned snack.  For that reason I don't have cereal.

I do use individual packs of Kays Protein cereal to take with me when traveling for a snack.  It has protein added.

For a "crunch", I sometimes use Fiber One "twigs" on top of yogurt - it is more of an embellishment - not a protein source.  The high fiber is also good for constipation - if that is an issue for you.

Most cereals are made from processed flour - flour stripped of nutrients.  Processed flour causes your blood sugar to elevate and will make you hungrier sooner and often make you want to eat more carbs.

Of course we can't eat and drink at the same time - so if you have "cold" cereal with milk - you would have to drink the milk first and then eat the cereal and wait 30 minutes before drinking again.

Personally I find most cereal calorie rich and nutrition poor & I find I can live without it.  Just my humble thoughts.

The one time I tried some Kashi & milk is the last time for a loooonnnngggggggg time...thought it would be a good idea.   There is protein in Kashi and in skim milk, that should work, right?    Oh no no no...I suspect it just had too many total carbs, but I felt awful after eating about 1/4 cup.

The Kashi Go Lean Crunch does have protein and does taste good, but just be careful.   You might want to try a little with yogurt first to see how you tolerate it!
