I know a lot of people have problems with cereal after surgery but I am thinking of trying a little and seeing how it goes. Can anyone recommend a good post-op high protein cereal??

Kashi has some good, higher protein cereals, but, yeah, good luck with that.

The Hi Low that Nik reviewed on her blog  and mentioned today is really good, but it is a bit pricy as she mentioned- if you don't share it with anyone it should last a while  though ;)

If you have a local low -carb type store they often carry it I find at least for me.

I waited about 11 months after surgery to have cereal.  I could never find a low carb cereal and my Dr. told me "if you start eating carbs you will gain weight."  I took it to heart.  Once I was about 15 pounds below my goal weight I ate some Grape Nuts.  It was really good, but I will not eat it often.

Good Luck!

I am 11 mths post op and eat pretty much anything within reason (small quantities) but cereal hates me.  I have tried about a few different kinds on about 3 occassions over the last 6 mths and every time I feel horrible afterwards.  i do miss cereal.  I wish candy would make me sick

My nutritionist suggested Special K plus protein. It is very good. I just add a little stevia or whatever you like and enjoy.

Cereal to me is a no no...I tried it post op since my dr's plan allows it...I was SO excited to try some ff milk and corn chex...and it was GOOD...however once i thought about it it made no sense. Dr says no drinking with meals...well DUH...cereal and milk together?! So i dont do it anymore...plus it wasnt satisfying for me at all. Maybe putting some on yogurt would be ok but not traditional milk and cereal. Plus its a carb...STAY AWAY FROM THEM! I found this out the hard way a few weeks ago ...eating them makes you want MORE of them and then youre in trouble. Luckily i niped mine in the bud early but i wont go there again
