Sip, sip, sip. Drinking water is very difficult for many new post ops.  It's a necessary evil, as failure  to drink enough water will land you back in the hospital within a few days from dehdration--especially true during these hotter months.  You can add unflavored whey isolate or soy isolate protein powders to foods, or use them with berries/bananas/ice for your own fruit smoothie.  Even at over 5 years post op, I still use some protein supplements each week. I normally have oatmeal for breakfast daily. I add 25g of the generic unflavored whey isolate protein each time I have oatmeal. I add the protein to the water, and add the water to the oatmeal and put into microwave. Protein powders don't nomrally do well in boiling water. You can add protein powders to hot drinks like decaf tea, crystal lite, decaf coffee, etc.  It's something you have to do now, not something to think about in the next few days.  My wife ended up back in the hospital twice from dehdration after her RNY revision in 2007.  She loves the Rival snowcone maker I got at Walmart.  Uses refrigerator ice cubes.  Add SF flavors. One of her favorites is using the SF cola and SF cherry. She says it tastes like a cherry coke. Be creative, you'll find ways. DAVE

the hospital gave me about 10 little 1oz cuppies. I filled some of them up and sipped on them one at a time. It also helped me to keep a clock in front of me so I could keep track of when it was time for a new cup.

In the beginning, protein shakes.  Counts as both fluid and protein.

I ordered a ton of samples from vitalady.com and some I liked and some I couldn't stand.  I also tried making them in different ways and found most ones I preferred mixed with milk in the blender with some ice.  Made it taste almost like a real milkshake.
