I did have a stricture but I don't anymore. It got dilated 5 times since the surgery. I also have an ulcer which I take medicine for. My surgeon says some people are just unlucky and feel sick a lot. I haven't been throwing up in the last month like i used to. Some foods make me throw up but I usually just stick to what I know is okay for me.  I am also on compazine, and zofran for nausia and ativan for anxiety and nausia. I am also on protonix as an acid reducer. So my surgeon has given me a lot and says theres really not much wrong with me. I think I dry heave because of the acid in my stomach.

Im just so exhausted by all of this. I want to see my therapist who I used to see but she is not covered by my current insurance and I can't afford to pay 100 dollars a session so I am trying to find a way to get her covered but working with the insurance company is annoying.

Guess I responded a little to quickly. I didnt realize how much you had already been through.

I havnt been sick, but I always feel tired. I wish that I had this sudden burst of energy that some of us get.

I do hope you get to feeling better soon.

You mentioned you had an ulcer, I was hospitalized for that twice and I think I am getting another one. If that is the case, that might be what is causing all your discomfort. Maybe you should see a gastroenterologist and schedule an edoscopy. If its an ulcer and they scope you, then they may be able to cautarize it. I hope you feel better. Good luck.

It took me almost four months to start really feeling good. I felt really bad and regretted my choice up until then. Now at six months out I feel great. Hang in there and talk to your dr. It will get better.

I went through something very similar and it finally started getting better 4 months or so later. I would be nauseous day in and day out, they did several endoscopies, upper GIs and even tested me by insertiing a tube through my nouse down my esophagus to see my reflexes when swallowing liquids- every single test always negative for anything.

I was taking 3 different kinds of nausea meds and an anti-seizure med that was used for nausea as well that would turn me into a zombie. I was also hospitalized twice with dehydration and because I was malnourished.

Then one day it was gone, and today I feel that even then, everything that I went through, the surgery was totally worth it. Hang in there, it does get better. Hugs!

You are SOOO not alone! While not everyone has had the difficulties you've had - and it's good to hear on this forum that there IS hope that things will get better with some extra time - you have my support. Think of me as your "friend-a-pist" & we can have some walking sessions for free, right? And come to support group this week, ok? You don't whine alot. You're in your own head so it seems like it to you but reality is you've been going thru some insane stuff and anyone would be batty at this point.
I worry about the energy question. Are your labs ok? The lack of calories, protein & water will certainly do it to you, but I would be looking for proof in the pudding....

Thanks. I'll be at the support group this week. and it helps to have everyone's support. I did my labs a couple weeks ago and everything was fine.

Not to be a brat...but get a copy of your labs and post them here so you can see if they really are ok or not. Ya know how docs like to say everything is fine but the ladies here can spot bad things they over look.

I'm so sorry you are still so sick.  Hang in there, though ... I had many of the same issues you have had... and I promise - it does get better.  It took me about 6 months to start to feel almost normal, but by about a year I felt healthy.

I'm sorry to hear about your job -- I just lost mine, too because I had to take leave due to a depression flare up.  It sucks, but keep your head up.

Oh, Katie, I'm so sorry that you are STILL struggling!  I was fortunate and had no trouble at all with eating or vomiting or other problems after surgery, so I cannot even pretend to understand what that might be like... but I know from enduring this belly pain (for well over a year now!) how frustrating and mentally exhausting it can be to not feel well all (or much of) the time.

Have you seen another surgeon?  I just have a really hard time understanding how your doctor can have NO asnwers about what is going on (or about how long it might last)!  It's just my opinion, but I think you owe it to yourself to see if someone else can help.
